Unity Fund Services (UFS) is expanding our team and we are searching for a qualified Fund Accountant in the position of Assistant Manager to help us lead, coach, and mentor our fund accountants as we redefine fund administration.

This role will use your >5 years background as a general accountant (CPA/CA) and your people management experience within fund services environments. Your knowledge of working in a variety of asset classes is essential to this role. It is expected that all our assistant managers have the ability to still be hands-on with the “tools” including highly advanced skills using Excel, Word.

Assistant managers within our team at UFS are able to demonstrate their ability to lead from the front by motivating their teams, sharing knowledge, and coaching their teams to ongoing success. Your proactive, analytical approach to problem-solving and ability to bring a team together is what will drive your success in our organisation. We are searching for assistant managers who have the ability to build a strong rapport with their teams but also be confident advisers to our clients.

The role will see you assume responsibility for a varied portfolio of investment funds which may include wholesale or retail:

property / real estate funds
credit/debt funds
fund of funds
hedge funds
financial assets
other investment funds

Tasks/Responsibility

Managing relationships with key stakeholders to ensure all aspects of fund administration are delivered in a compliant and efficient manner
Manage a small team of fund accountants ensuring all team members are trained and motivated to deliver excellent client services
Review and approve for release all client deliverables to a high quality ensuring all procedures and processes are adhered to
Ensure clients meet regulatory obligations in respect of fund administration and tax compliance
Successfully onboard new Funds to required timeframes
Manage all aspects of teamwork flow ensuring work is appropriately allocated and resourced to meet client deadlines and staff development opportunities
With support of team manager ensure all team members are motivated, receive adequate training and have development plans in place to achieve career objectives
Assist with internal projects from time to time
Escalate issues identified by client, trustee and team to ensure a viable solution can be found.

About the Role

We are seeking a tax guru to lead the tax function within our Finance Team!

In this role, you will need to be hands-on and possess a proactive attitude as we expand our global presence and navigate heightened global tax regulatory complexities. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of global tax operations, compliance, process improvements, and have a passion for making the complex simple through your knowledge of taxating related risk exposure.

What You’ll Do

Global Tax Compliance:

Develop and implement tax strategies to ensure compliance with international tax laws and regulations across various jurisdictions

Transfer Pricing:

Maintain transfer pricing policies tn ensure they align with business activities and comply with relevant regulations
Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate documentation and reporting for transfer pricing transactions

Tax Planning:

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify tax planning opportunities that optimise the company’s global tax position while ensuring compliance
Provide strategic advice on the tax implications of business decisions and initiatives
AASB / IFRS tax effect accounting

Country Specific Tax Matters:

Manage relationships with external tax advisors and authorities in various countries
Oversee the preparation and filling of tax returns in multiple jurisdictions including but not limited to federal/corporations, sales/VAT/GST, fringe benefits

Other

Collaborate with finance and other business units to ensure alignment to tax matters related to business operations
Provide training and support to internal teams on tax-related issues
Ensure ROLLER is audit ready, data is available/automated where possible and all necessary documentation is prepared and maintained for audit purposes (if required)
Championing the implementation and use of technology to make tax painless!

About You

A seasoned tax professional with expertise in AU, US, and UK corporate and international tax
Extensive experience in company processes, controls, cadences and have developed detailed and suitable plans to assess and remediate any gaps in tax advisory and compliance processes
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and senior management

Strong knowledge and expertise of engineering processes, tools, and technical solutions within the ITS industry.
