About the role
PTX is seeking multiple candidates to join our team as a Structural Engineer on a full-time basis. We are seeking a talented and motivated Structural Engineer to join our growing team. Structural Engineer will be part of our design team and will be required to work onsite and in our office on most of our Building and Engineering projects. You will be required to conduct work onsite at a number of locations across Melbourne and nearby area.
Responsibilities
• Checking of design and RAM concept model
• Check PT and Reinforcement design prior to issuing to client for approval
• Review client’s requirements
• Perform load and stress analysis to ensure that the post-tensioned elements can withstand various loads and environmental conditions.
• Prepare detailed post-tensioning design drawings and specifications in accordance with industry codes and standards.
• Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other professionals to integrate post-tensioning into the overall design.
• Design the layout and configuration of post-tensioning tendons to optimize structural performance and minimize construction costs.
• Consider factors such as concrete placement, tendon anchorage locations, and compatibility with other building systems.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, including reviewing shop drawings and responding to contractor inquiries.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure that tasks align with the design and safety standards.
• Ensure that the post-tensioned structures comply with local building codes and regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of all design calculations, drawings, specifications, and correspondence related to post-tensioning.
• Prepare documentation for project reports and record any design changes during construction.
• Identify and address any issues or problems that arise during the construction or operation of post-tensioned structures.
• Propose and implement solutions to rectify structural deficiencies or other issues.
• Prepare all certificate of compliance documentation.
Skills/ Experience/ Qualifications
• A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
• Master of structural engineering (or related)
• At least 2+ years’ experience in structural design
• Knowledge in Engineering software such as RAM, AutoCAD, Bluebeam.
• Moderate computer skills.
• Understanding of structural design concept with respect to constructability
• Communicate engineering issues to client and site personnel
• Strong knowledge of AS3600 and other relevant guidelines
• Contributes to building a positive team spirit
• Ability to articulate thoughts into clear and concise written and verbal communication.
• Professionalism and confidence when dealing with clients and other external parties.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to work toward strict deadlines and mitigate delays
Salary and Benefits
• $ 60,000- $ 100,000 per annual (exclusive superannuation)
