Welding Engineer

Could you be the Welding Engineer based in our Dandenong, VIC site office that we’re looking for? Your future role: As the Welding Engineer you will work closely with Lead Welding Engineer and Welding Inspectors to assure full site compliance with respective welding standards (EN 15085, AS 1554) and Alstom welding process directives. You will be a role model as a welding expert focused on welding process compliance and welding quality as well as developing welding technology and assuring all relevant documents to meet the desired standards. With your expertise, you will support welders’ training and qualification process, to ensure they hold the required qualification relevant for the job at any given time. The position will require you to review suppliers’ documentation and provide the feedback on welding processes ensuring they meet Alstom standards.  We’ll look to you for:  Reviewing the design, its feasibility for welding, and advising if any changes are required Preparing Weld Maps/WPS/Welders' Qualification Certs (or verifying existing ones) Driving WPQR development process Advising on how to contain welding non-compliances and set NCR dispositions Responding to vendors concession requests Preparing work instructions and procedures for specific welding processes All about you: Tertiary engineering degree (mechanical engineer/welding engineer/metallurgist or similar) Qualified as one of the following - IWE/IWT (International Welding Engineer or Technologist) Knowledge and thorough understanding of the welding processes Expert in containing welding-related non-conformances Ability to read technical drawings and weld symbols to both EN and AS standards Experience in creating or reviewing welding quality documents (WPQR/WPS/Welders' Qualification Reports/NDT reports) Proven background the management of resistance spot welding and assessment of welds destructive test results Familiarity with the standards: EN ISO 15085, EN ISO 3834 and EN ISO 9606, EN ISO 5817, EN ISO 15614, AS1554   The Benefits: 18 weeks paid parental leave Free gym membership Flexible working options Salary continuance insurance Bridging leave   Things you’ll enjoy:    Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career.
