Working in BlueScope’s global  Climate Change Team and reporting to the Manager Climate Change, this role is responsible for successfully coordinating and supporting the delivery of climate related projects across the organisation.

The Automation Controls Engineer is highly experienced in logistics, materials handling and supply chain management. Innovatively turns client concepts into a design package, whilst focusing on budget considerations. Follows through with the implementation, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting at the client’s premises, and throughout the product lifecycle..

Responsibilities
• Innovative design, development and deployment of electrical control systems and hardware components to agreed specification
• Development of system functional descriptions, including electrical and controls layout for fully automated robotic manufacturing systems
• Preparation of electrical schematic drawings, including motors, networking, safety, I/O, board layouts and PLC programs
• Manage the procurement of parts (detailed bill of materials), manufacture of cabinets, configuration of operator interfaces and the electrical installation
• Lead the commissioning of equipment and systems during FAT and SAT, including site travel, client engagement and troubleshooting
• Provide client training on operator interfaces and network during equipment installation
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and safety standards AS 4024.1-2014 Safety of Machinery
• Conformance to OHS&E standards in the design and execution of all work.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Registered as a Professional Electronics Engineer (Engineer’s Australia).
• Construction Induction Training

Experience
• 5+ years’ experience in an Electrical Controls Engineering role, preferably in logistics, materials handling and supply chain management
• Project experience during and/or post-degree
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge with materials handling system controls
• PLC Programming (Allen Bradley Control Logix / Siemens S7)
• HMI/SCADA Programming
• Configuration, programming and commissioning of variable speed drives, servo motors, barcode scanners, safety devices, and safety PLC’s.
• Design experience using AutoCAD.

About the Role
The University of Melbourne's School of Physics is actively seeking an exceptional astrophysicist to join the Astrophysics group. The group, known for its diverse research interests, is dedicated to excellence in research, undergraduate teaching, and graduate student research training.

The position is open to all fields of astrophysics, both theoretical and observational. While experience with existing faculty is favorable, the group is equally interested in expanding into new areas, such as exoplanetary astrophysics.

You will be expected to lead an independent research program adhering to high standards of rigor, originality, and scholarship.

Your responsibilities will include:

Conduct a program of research that contributes to the Astrophysics discipline in the School of Physics
Contribute actively to the high-quality development and review of curriculum.
Publish research findings in international refereed journals and present results at seminars, conferences, and meetings
Actively participate in the School’s undergraduate and graduate teaching programs, including the preparation and delivery of lectures, practicals and field work programs.
Contribute to a range of administrative functions, including those connected with teaching responsibilities and the conduct of the academic affairs of the School
Who We Are Looking For
We’re looking for an astrophysics who has a strong passion to supervise undergraduate and graduate research students. You’ll also need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with a broad range of stakeholders including researchers and students.

You will also have:

A PhD in Astrophysics or a related discipline
An established track record of high-quality publications in leading international journals, relative to career opportunity in the general areas of astrophysics
Evidence of the ability to attract external research funding from national competitive research bodies and other sources, possibly including industry
Evidence of the ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses on discipline topics including astrophysics and physics
