The Opportunity
The System Accounting Chapter supports delivery in the Finance & Actuarial Transformation & Systems Centre of Excellence (CoE) as it continues to develop, enhance, and maintain financial systems, financial process plus ensure integrity of financial data and associated controls. The Chapter continues to support Finance & Actuarial SMTs during Transformation and Integrations as well as running the business.
System Accountants bridge the Finance & Actuarial team and our technical Oracle experts -> all System Accountants have an accounting qualification with financial system expertise. They understand the current state of financial system data flows, controls, and processes, including customer payment/receipting functionality, that forms a basis of RLA’s financial transactions and reports. Their craft includes the design, analysis and review of financial systems and associated financial processes and controls
Your Story
RLA has adopted agile ways or working providing a flexible environment for individuals to make a significant contribution to our success through the application of their skill and experience. To thrive in this environment ideally a candidate has the following general attributes:
Analysis of current state of nominated financial system/process/accounting
Clear and concise documentation of current state
Development of future state user stories (requirements) using best practice, under guidance of Sponsor Delegate and Project Team
Work with the Project Team, including our third-party vendors, in understanding how Oracle Fusion capabilities will be used in our Future of Finance state
Unit test and triage financial system and data integration artefacts under guidance
Create work papers associated with any testing including remediation activities
Work with Change Management for new standard operating procedures, training and documentation as required
Key Competencies required
Excellent analytical skills - attention to detail and tenacity.
A challenging and enquiring mind.
Understanding of common software failures and faults.
Experience in a variety of testing efforts.
Accounting/Finance tertiary qualifications or equivalent
Experience in financial system implementation/upgrades is highly desirable
Experience working with Oracle Fusion ERP, Finance platform implementations and operations highly desirable
Experience of Jira technology
Life Insurance, banking, and financial services industry experience ideal but not essential
