Our Team

Our Protected Vehicles team works closely with clients to design, manufacture, maintain and upgrade protected vehicles that keep people safe, all around the world. Our state-of-the-art workshops are set up to help us deliver Hawkei and Bushmaster military vehicles to strict defence standards – and set our people on rewarding career paths.

Your Role

Working from our Bendigo site on Dja Dja Wurrung land, you can expect to rotate between multiple departments. On any one day you might

• Help to design, develop and validate components and systems for our defence vehicles

• Interpret our customer requirements and provide design solutions including engineering analysis and investigation

• Undertake learning and training activities to develop skills and experience as a Graduate Engineer

Our Opportunity:

Opportunity for a Project Planner & Scheduler to join our Above Water Systems (AWS) Project Management Office (PMO) team, which provides all planning and scheduling activities for projects managed within the AWS business situated in Garden Island, NSW. In this role you will be responsible for schedule development, scheduling, planning, monitoring and control activities across a range of projects and platforms, ensuring the project scope is well tracked, both in terms of time and cost.

Responsibilities include:

• Liaising with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, as well as planning and bids and estimating team to create and maintain valid and accurate bid and project schedules in Primavera.

• Advise the Project manager of scheduling / production issues that might impact on key schedule dates.

• Highlighting areas of schedule and cost concern and identify potential actions for improving performance.

• Carrying out analysis of project schedule and cost performance.

• Ensuring data transfer, data coordination between various program management software systems to ensure capture of accurate performance data.

• Preparing regular reports and charts on project schedule progress and project performance.

About You:

• Formal qualification in area of Engineering, Project Management or Project Planning/Control, suitable trade or engineering training & experience, or extensive industry experience in related field

• Understanding of naval/maritime projects, processes and procedures will be advantageous

• Experience in a ship building/repair or similar heavy engineering industry, and/or civil engineering field will be favourable

• Demonstrated skills in project schedule development

• Experience using Primavera or similar specialist project planning application

• Strong communication skills and collaborative working style

The Role: Electrical Engineering Manager

What Success Looks Like:

The role of the Senior Solution Architect is a key role for the OneSKY project and as part of TopSKY Solution Architecture team, help to define and deliver a state-of-the-art Air Traffic Solution.  This is a front facing role and requires direct engagement with our Customer and key internal senior stakeholders.

The role is responsible for defining, stabilising and maintaining the solution architecture for bids and projects for all lifecycle phases, it includes:

• Defining and proposing innovative technical solutions that meet customer requirements and are compliant with the business’ product/system technical strategy
• Analysing the architectural and technical choices to ensure the best trade-off between customer requirements, technical solutions, cost and risk.

Responsibilities:

• Lead working groups conducting technical arbitration between System of System, Subsystems and transverse teams (Safety, Security, Human Factors) and the constraints they place on the system design.
• Contact with the customer on technical issues including evolutions to the solution baseline.  
• Responsible for stabilising and maintaining the solution architecture throughout its lifecycle in cooperation with the SEMs and PDA.
• Ensure the solution architecture is optimised to address the real need through:
  • Bringing to the foreground the key architectural drivers
  • Exploring the solution space to define a set of alternate candidate architectural concepts and perform related trade-offs ensuring all design alternatives are recorded and decisions justified

The HSE Business Partner will be responsible for partnering with the business leading the effective implementation and execution of HSE policy and strategy across Thales operations in Australia. This includes undertaking and being responsible for activities in support of continuous improvement in HSE and assuring conformance of Thales activities with applicable regulatory frameworks, group strategy, lifesaving controls and the Thales HSE-MS. KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a HSE Business Partner, you are accountable for:

• Lead activities to support the implementation and maintenance of the business line/segment HSE strategy, management and improvement plans.
• Coach, guide and mentor leaders and their teams in achieving the HSE strategy.
• Work proactively with stakeholders to collaboratively address work place health, safety and environmental risks.
• Lead hazard, incident and injury/illness reporting and investigations. Monitor to ensure that follow ups are complete. This includes involvement, support for and understanding of Claims and Fitness for work activities
• Serve as a role model to all workers by demonstrating full support of Thales’s occupational health, safety and environment programs by promoting awareness, accountability, and employee engagement.
• Work closely with managers and employees to identify areas for improvement, establish HSE goals, and implement initiatives that enhance HSE performance.
• Champion emergency preparedness and planning for the site. Developing and maintaining emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and business continuity strategies.
• Continually identify through continuous improvement protocols and risk assessments, implementing opportunities to improve HSE and control measure where required
• Regularly providing reports on safety metrics, trends, and initiatives to senior management, highlighting areas of improvement and recommending appropriate actions.
• Maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant legal, regulatory and company safety and environmental requirements.

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum Diploma WHS (post 2012)
• Minimum 5 years HSE experience
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience in the fields of HSE, management systems and relevant legislation.
• Knowledge and experience in chemical management and health monitoring programs
• Understanding of Injury Management, Workers Compensation, Health Promotion is desirable.
• Experience interacting with workers from management level through to the shop floor
• Execution of HSE within a high-risk environment
• Practical knowledge of the production /construction / and/or manufacturing environment
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to lead, motivate and influence others.
• Practical knowledge of emergency procedures in a wide range of scenarios

Your Role

We are conducting an Expression of Interest for Air Traffic Control Instructors to work within the OneSKY operational training team, providing specialist operational training analysis, curriculum design, training product development and training delivery for the OneSKY program.

Core duties include:

• Conducting assessments on future required training (i.e. Training Needs Analysis)
• Developing the course curriculum and training materials (including practical simulation exercises) to satisfy the outcome of these assessments
• Delivering ATC systems training (including pseudo-pilot functions)
• Managing exercise environments
• Conducting training evaluations and reviews
• Providing ATC systems training advice to the OneSKY program
• Working to budget, quality and schedule requirements

Your Experience:

On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:

• Designing and developing practical air traffic control simulation exercises for use in a formal training environment
• Designing, developing and delivering training courses
• Providing workplace training and assessment (or similar) and ideally hold a Cert IV in Training and Assessment (or higher)
• Operating ATC simulator platforms with significant knowledge in the data, hardware and software performance requirements and hold a Diploma of Aviation - Air Traffic Control with operational ATC rating/endorsement experience within Tower/Approach and/or Approach/Enroute Control
• Australian Citizenship to be eligible for security clearance.
• Flexibility for some domestic travel
• Valid Drivers License

About Your Role: Ship Manager

We have an opportunity for a Ship Manager to join our Ship Repair team based in Garden Island Defence Precinct. You will join our Maintenance Services team, which provides Maintenance Management Services for the Royal Australian Navy.

You will oversee the Maintenance Management Services for the assigned Ship, ensuring that all Maintenance and incorporation of engineering changes is completed safely within the agreed schedule, cost and Commonwealth technical requirements.
