About the Job

Reporting in to the GM, Investment Risk, the role is focused on the comprehensive management and oversight of risks throughout Rest's financial governance process, ensuring consistency with the organisation's defined risk management strategy and appetite.

The position involves the development, implementation, and supervision of regulatory requirements including:

• SPS 515: Strategic Planning and Member Outcomes
• CPS 190: Recovery and Exit Planning
• CPS 900: Resolution Planning

Additionally, the role entails developing, implementing and overseeing compliance of a Scenario Framework including the development of scenarios to manage strategic and external risks across Rest.

As Head of Financial Risk, the primary purpose is to manage and oversee risk across Rest's entire financial governance process, ensuring alignment with the company's overall risk management strategy and appetite. This includes leading the regulatory change program for SPS 515, CPS 190 and CPS 900.The position requires a strong partnership with the Finance Business Unit, including Investment Operations.

Key responsibilities are:

1. Evaluate and strengthen the oversight of policies, frameworks, and systems designed to mitigate financial risks.
2. Challenge and improve controls and processes for financial, management, taxation, reserving, regulatory reporting, capital management and actuarial management, as well as investment operations.
3. Challenge the oversight of financial and investment operational service providers and managing associated risks.
4. Lead Rest’s regulatory change program for SPS 515, CPS 190 and CPS 900 which includes developing necessary documentation, implementing these standards, operationalising policies/ processes, and managing the associated changes.
5. Collaborate with senior stakeholders such as the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Strategy and Corporate Affairs Officer, and the Chief Risk Officer to navigate and implement regulatory changes pertaining to SPS 515, CPS 190, and CPS 900.
6. Oversee the effective ongoing compliance of SPS 515, CPS 190 and CPS 900.
7. Develop and implement a Scenario Framework to address strategic and external risks, particularly within business planning as per SPS 515.
8. Oversee compliance with the Scenario Framework once implemented.
9. Oversee the adherence to regulatory requirements and legislation specific to finance as enforced by governing bodies such as APRA and ASIC, in accordance with standards and guidelines including SPS 515, CPS 230, SPS114, CPS 190, CPS 900, and RG97.

Overall, this role focuses on challenging Rest's end-to-end financial and investment operational processes by enforcing effective risk management and ensuring compliance.

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Financial Controller with CA qualification trained from within a recognised accounting firm.

The Financial Controller will play a key role in the design and implementation of systems and process transformation. The successful candidate will report to the General Manager of Finance and work closely with the parent company finance team.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain internal controls with Sarbanes Oxley compliance aligned with parent company requirements
• Provide financial analysis and support to the executive leadership team, including the preparation of financial forecasts and budgets
• Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring that staff are trained and developed in their roles
• Working with the commercial finance team to drive the financial growth of the company
• Working with senior finance team to develop the Finance teams annual strategies and objectives
• Manage the working capital reporting and insights to the business and parent company reporting
• Manage the financial accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, tax , and financial reporting for 4 ANZ companies
• Manage the consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, ensuring compliance with Omnicom (US parent company) accounting policies
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial service providers.
• Monitor and report on key financial performance indicators, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions

Requirements:

• CA or equivalent professional certification
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior finance role, big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm trained
• Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a team
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
• Proficiency in financial management software and systems, including Excel and accounting software
• Experience of system implementation highly regarded.

A competitive total salary package (including superannuation) between $150,000-$170,000 is on offer.
