Government organisation in Cairns' CBD seeking an IT Infrastructure Team Lead Your new company Based in the tropical city of Cairns in Queensland's Far-North, a leading government organisation are seeking an IT Infrastructure Team Lead to oversee a team of technical experts that work across variety of eco systems that underpin the running of this organisation! Your new role Established many years ago to service the needs of Queenslanders throughout the Far-North, this crucial government organisation is seeking to enhance its technical offerings not just internally but externally to improve the lives of thousands who rely on this organisation. Reporting directly into the newly appointed Infra & Ops Manager, this individual is seeking to appoint a direct report to lead (from a technical, personnel and project perspective) the organisations IT Infrastructure Team. This teams aim is to design, build and run everything related to the IT infrastructure and networks throughout the agency. As the Lead of this team, you will oversee 8 permanent highly skilled technical members of staff (plus contractors) across the Networking, Cloud, Cyber Security and IT Support domains. In this role your duties and responsibilities will vary across a multitude of areas including (but not limited to) senior hands-on technical duties, project delivery, people leadership, IT strategy, technical management and resource allocation to name a few. The successful applicant for this role will have ideally come from an IT infrastructure/systems engineering background and would have progressed throughout their career into the leadership/senior engineering domain. This move would have given them the skills, knowledge and understanding on how to lead a diverse IT team from a variety of perspectives (both IT and non-IT related). Alongside maintaining and uplifting this organisations current IT infrastructure (Azure, Cisco, etc), this teams technical roadmap for the next 2-3 years will focus on an enterprise level Cyber Security Resilience program. This program is aimed at not just implementing technical solutions, but incorporating governance, risk, mitigation and countermeasures to name a few. As such, you will have a key part in enhancing this organisations cyber security related capabilities (from both a technical and non-technical perspective) alongside giving you the chance to further your skill set to cover in an ever growing in-demand domain. What you'll need to succeed From a technical perspective, you will need experience/knowledge across as much of the following as possible:
The Microsoft eco-system (Azure, Active Directory, 365, etc)
Hyperconverged Infrastructure (Cisco Compute & Dell EMC Storage)
Security (Firewalls, Palo Alto)
Enterprise Networking (Cisco)
VMWare including MDM
Microsoft Azure
Enterprise communications services such as WAN (SD-WAN, MPLS)
Unified communications and collaboration (IP Telephony, Web and video conferencing)
Mobile and Cellular Data (3G, 4G)
Leadership capabilities
Working across and with large scale enterprise level solutions
Project Management
Proactive leader capable of managing technical personnel
Clear communication skills

What you'll get in return You will be offered an initial Fixed Term Contract up until December 2024 (with the view to go permanent) paying up to $106,291.38 + up to 12% super with a yearly locality allowance of $659.00 (with no dependants) and $1,318.00 (with dependants) plus relocation assistance. Alongside this you will also be offered other benefits such as:
36-hour weeks and 19 day work month (can be changed to 9 day fortnight after probation)
Up to 5 weeks annual leave
Up to 3 weeks sick leave
17.5% annual leave loading
Long Service Leave available pro rata after 7 year
