Employment opportunities in various locations Task & Responsibilities SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Children 1.1 To implement the Early Years Learning Framework through their curriculum and to reflect the individual developmental needs and interests of the children. The curriculum must also reflect the needs of the community and be culturally appropriate. 1.2 To maintain the necessary developmental records of children, and curriculum as required by the Department of Education and Communities and Fit Kidz. 1.3 To provide a healthy, safe and welcoming environment. 1.4 To develop, implement and evaluate a specific educational curriculum for children with additional needs in consultation with Director, parents, staff, and support agencies. 1.5 To interact with children during meal times, encouraging conversation and using this experience as an opportunity for positive role modeling. 1.6 To take responsibility of children’s belongings when in care. This includes: shoes, hats and clothing and any comforters. 1.7 Children are only able to be barefoot when playing in the sandpit. It is also important to remember that if we have to evacuate the building in an emergency the children will need their shoes on. 1.8 To provide children with the access to drinking water at all times. 2. Staff 2.1 To facilitate the development of a co-operative team within the centre. 2.2 To be responsible for the management of all room staff including support staff and the administrative duties and requirements related to staff. 2.3 To attend and participate in regular monthly staff meetings and take meeting minutes in your room books. 2.4 To assist in the orientation of new staff and in consultation with Management. 2.5 To complete staff review booklet in preparation for consultation with Management. 2.6 To attend regular Room Leader meetings and pass on information to room staff. 2.7 When suffering from a serious illness, the Centre Director must be contacted by a phone call as soon as practical, but at least two hours prior to the start of your shift or by 3.30 pm on the previous day and upon return to work a doctor’s certificate, with reason, will need to be supplied. Otherwise you will be expected to arrive at work as usual and work until replaced. 2.8 Staff must arrive 10 - 15 minutes before their shift begins and check emails and any room messages. If you are running late or arriving just on time you must call ahead. 2.9 Staff must complete sign in sheets by entering the times they enter and exit the building. Any annual leave, sick leave, overtime, Time In Lieu or RDO’s must be written in the comments column. 2.10 Staff must be aware of how the phone systems work and always ensure that the message bank is updated. 2.11 Staff are expected to understand that all team members are different and that their ideas and personalities should be respected. Gossiping will not be tolerated! If you have any issues please be professional and speak with the Director. 3. Families / Community 3.1 To support families and communicate with them about their child’s development and to share relevant records with them. 3.2 To attend and contribute to any Parent Meetings held for children enrolled in your room. 3.3 To advise and inform Management regarding all matters pertaining to the centre and Fit Kidz. 3.4 To seek the involvement of families developing and implementing the curriculum/program of the centre. 3.5 To liaise with the community and be knowledgeable of resources in the area. 3.6 To promote the service in the wide community and to implement Fit Kidz marketing strategies. 3.7 All parents must be greeted in the morning and evenings even if they are unfamiliar to you. 3.8 All families on orientations or tours must be greeted when they enter your room or if you pass them in the building. 3.9 To advise parents when pockets need to be emptied or if there are any messages to be passed on. 3.10 If a child receives an injury to the head or a bite, families must be called as soon as possible and informed of the event. The response must be recorded on the accident report. 4. Administration General 4.1 To facilitate the implementation of centre’s goals and objectives. 4.2 To be aware of and implement all Fit Kidz policies and procedures. 4.3 To promote and facilitate positive communication between families, staff and Fit Kidz by using mechanisms such as newsletters, notice boards, surveys and daily informal contact. 4.4 To undertake administration tasks on the computer as required. 4.5 To complete communication books for all children unless otherwise instructed. 4.6 To maintain the allergy/intolerance posters in the storeroom and kitchen for children enrolled in your room. 4.7 To assist in the policy review process. 4.8 Morning and daily handovers are to be completed for every child. The Room Leader is responsible for ensuring information is handed over to parents for every child at collection. 4.9 Shift Responsibilities checklist is to be completed on a daily basis. 4.10 If a child has an accident during the day, an accident form must be completed. This must be handed to parents on collection for them to complete the response section and then must be forwarded on to the Director. 4.11 All medication and accident forms must be registered before they are filed away in the children’s enrolment files. 4.12 To complete shift responsibilities on a daily basis and ensure that this is recorded. 4.13 To submit a newsletter piece every 2 months and ensure that all families in the room receive either a hard copy or electronic copy. 4.14 To create a Learn Journal on Story Park and ensure it is published by 2pm each day. 4.15 To maintain a room budget in consultation with the Director. 5.
