In our state-of-the-art GMP Manufacturing facility in Melbourne, Australia, the Process Technician, Mechanical, plays a crucial role. Reporting to the Plant Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of both GMP and non-GMP process and support equipment. As the first responder to equipment issues, the Process Technician ensures resolution through direct action or coordination with service providers, embodying Moderna's dedication to operational excellence and quality.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Within 3 Months, You Will…
Begin performing preventive and corrective maintenance on all process equipment, learning the systems and establishing protocols for emergency work.
Engage in troubleshooting and developing remediation activities, becoming familiar with the equipment and systems critical to our manufacturing process.
Within 6 Months, You Will…
Take on a leadership role in maintenance activities, ensuring the efficacy and safety of our manufacturing operations.
Provide "on-call" support, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to maintaining 24-7 operation of our facility.
Within 12 Months, You Will…
Become a subject matter expert in the operation and maintenance of key manufacturing and support systems.
Lead performance of maintenance activities and small projects, showcasing your ability to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:
Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics), preferred.
Trade qualification – Certificate 3, preferred.
3 to 5 years relevant experience working in a regulated (cGMP preferred) environment. Experience working in sterile manufacturing is highly desirable.
Hands on experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Understanding of automated process equipment (PLC controls) for simple troubleshooting is required.
Understanding and experience with pneumatic and vacuum systems.
Understanding of process equipment (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, mixing vessels etc)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) are required. Expected to be able to present own work to peers and cross-functional managers and influence leadership decisions. Technical writing skills required.
Must have a customer service mindset. Ability to manage competing priorities is critical.
Must be able use his/her technical background to investigate issues using a structured problem solving approach to determine true root cause and develop effective corrective and preventative actions. Must be able to find true root cause and path forward for complex problems.
Ability to identify and drive improvements to preventative maintenance tasks and strategy.
Demonstrated ability to learn new equipment/systems.
Familiarity with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are required.
Ability to interact well with other groups and must be able to take ownership of and follow through on assignments. Must be able to drive results on multiple complex assignments simultaneously with minimal required direction from his/her supervisor.
Ability to represent Moderna’s interests, objectives and policies in a professional and responsible manner.
