The Integrated Solutions Division is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Alice Springs, Australia to execute the software engineering function, including the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of lab software programs for enhancements and new software-intensive systems and products. This engineer will apply appropriate principles, standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the software development life cycle of various lab tools and the integration of external tools into the lab environment.

Duties include software requirements analysis, analysis of hardware compatibility, development of software products and tools used for design, development and maintenance of infrastructure, and platforms. The candidate will also be responsible for certified network and system administration on GEOINT and SIGINT lab hardware, software, databases, and managed network systems to ensure availability and reliability of operations within lab environments (including Linux, Microsoft Office, and other lab operating systems as required). Additional responsibilities include technical planning, technical design, development and integration of external capabilities, and verification and validation.  

The successful candidate will influence development of solutions that impact strategic lab goals and results. He or she will recommend and develop new technical solutions, products, and/or standards in support of lab strategy and operations. He or she will lead and manage other technical staff in implementing technical solutions that will have significant impact on lab project results/outputs. The candidate will work to convince others to accept lab’s view/current practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices and approaches.

The candidate will be responsible for issue investigation and resolution and installing new software baselines at lab locations. The candidate will interface with program, lab, and site leadership regarding critical matters impacting the lab and its infrastructure, as well as project managers, systems engineers, and software developers on a regular basis, so good communications skills are a must. Candidate will be a self-starter with excellent organization and leadership skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform software requirements analysis, analysis of hardware compatibility, development of software products and tools used for design, development and maintenance of infrastructure, and platforms

• The ideal candidate is either a software engineer with a good systems admininstration background or a highly skilled systems engineer with knowledge of security, coding and automation.

Basic Qualifications:

• Requires a BS degree and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or a Masters with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience.
• In-depth understanding of technical principles, theories, concepts, best practices, and their application across range of lab programs.
• Extensive experience using common source control frameworks (i.e. Gitlab, Bitbucket)
• High level of expertise with Linux systems (RedHat / CentOS or equivalent)
• Knowledge of the HTTP 1.1, HTTP 2.0, HTTPS, and WebSocket protocols
• Advanced automated script design, coding, debugging, and maintenance skills (using bash, python, perl, etc.)
• Experience with User Interface development, knowledge of databases and structures, and/or experience working with XHTML, HTML, XML, XSLT
• Strong verbal and written communications skills are required, as well as the ability to maintain professionalism in a diverse customer environments
• Must possess an active TS security clearance at a minimum with a current CI polygraph
• Security+ certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Significant experience with cloud native technologies and security services
• Experience in working closely with software developers to integrate, configure, and deploy commercial products
• Experience with virtualized infrastructure environments (VMWare or equivalent)
• Experience with Containerization (Docker) and Container Orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and other cloud-based platforms
• Knowledge of cyber security, information assurance, risk management framework, and assessment / authorization requirements

Aquila Mine is an underground hard coking coal mine, which will extend the life of Anglo American’s existing Capcoal underground operations til 2030. Day to day you will:

• Provide initial support to Control Room systems, including MOSART, VIZ Graphics,   VSM and Dante 
•  Provide support for a range of Editing systems, including Velocity, Premier Pro, AVID and Final Cut Pro 
• Provide initial support for newsroom systems, including Imagine NewsForce, file and tape based ingest, GPRX and ENPS plugins. 
• Provide initial support for a range of broadcast centric systems such as KVM matrices, Multiviewers, sound and video processing systems and talkback systems 
• Provide input for resolution of operational technical issues, such as upgrade paths and workflow changes, etc
• Service and repair hardware used for broadcast acquisition, such as camera, camera support and lighting equipment
• Communicate with Operations and News to ensure all stakeholders are kept up to date with any issues or changes associated with systems

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• You lead the commissioning activities of the boiler and combustion elements for HZI and ensure works are executed in accordance with contract requirements, and conform with the approved drawings and standards, project time and budget
• You supervise and check the commissioning works being performed by the contractor in respect of timescales, HSEQ and compliance with the approved drawings and standards
• You lead by example regarding HSEQ;  actively encouraging and leading the HZI and contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements
• You are responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under your supervision, eliminating / mitigating hazards, stopping works where HSE instructions might be compromised
• You liaise and coordinate with all relevant stakeholders (project team members, commissioning manager, erection supervisors, HSE, commercial counterparts, engineering, sub-contractors, suppliers etc.)
• You ensure sub-contractors are co-ordinated with other site works, material and all other requirements are in place in order for them to efficiently perform required tasks.
• You complete required tests on site as required by the functional description of the plant and or equipment
• Interface with 3rd parties and external bodies as necessary

• Complete structural systems design for naval ship systems

• Perform technical investigations, root cause analysis and solution identification

• Undertake Structural Engineering tasks such as first principle structural calculations and Finite Element Analysis

• Create Technical reports/documentation based as per client requirements

• Management of minor to moderate projects, with competing priorities

• Main areas of focus: o Hull structure (primary and secondary members, global and local assessments);

• Equipment foundations (major and minor); o
• Shock, noise and vibration.

Must haves:

Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Desirable: Naval Architecture / Structural / Aeronautical);

• 8+ years of experience in similar roles

• Proven skills and experience in a Structure and/or Naval Architecture function

• Ability to obtain Baseline Security Clearance • Proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) packages

• Proficiency in FEA software packages

Nice to have:

• Experience in the Naval Defence industry

• Baseline Clearance • Proficiency in fundamental and complex structural analyses (static strength, stiffness, natural frequency, noise, vibration, shock, buckling, fatigue etc.)

• Proficiency in analysing bolted and welded connections

• Proficiency in Finite Element Modelling and Analysis, particularly ANSYS

• Proficiency in Whole of Ship assessments, particularly longitudinal strength

• Experience using SpaceClaim and MicroStation CAD packages

• Experience in ANSYS software package

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will oversee and maintain our manufacturing equipment, machinery and facilities to guarantee their seamless operation. You will conduct thorough assessments, implement necessary repairs and execute preventive maintenance tasks. Your responsibilities extend to troubleshooting complex issues, utilising your engineering expertise to minimise downtime and optimise production efficiency.

Working Monday to Friday, this role will require the flexibility to support overlapping both day (5am – 1pm) and afternoon shifts (1pm – 9pm), along with additional work hours to ensure continuous production. Working predominantly during the day shift, you will lead a team of maintenance fitters, electricians and external contractors. This position offers a 38-hour work week, ensuring a balanced and productive work environment.
