What will you do?
As a Senior Blast Engineer in our Built Environment team, your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the city's landscape. This role is your chance to channel your knowledge and enthusiasm into a variety of challenging projects, focusing on blast analysis and design. This role offers you the opportunity to apply your knowledge and passion as you work in a diverse and award-winning team on the design of some of Sydney’s most interesting buildings and structures. This role will not only involve blast analysis but also extend to various facets of protective design and security, including progressive collapse, site perimeter security, and operational security, ensuring a comprehensive approach to public safety and infrastructure resilience.

Responsibilities
- Provide physical security/protective design consulting services for new and existing buildings. This can include blast design, site layout, progressive collapse, and design of vehicle barriers.
- Prepare blast threat mitigation strategy reports in conjunction with security advisors and based on threat dependent blast assessment and measure to reduce risk to life safety.
- Perform calculations to determine blast-loading environments.
- Perform nonlinear, dynamic analysis of building structures and façade systems using finite element analysis software such as Strand7, LS-DYNA, Ansys.
- Provide recommendations to reduce or eliminate the probability of structural collapse including blast protection of critical elements to the desired level of protection.
- Provide advice regarding explosive blast-effect predictions and glazing hazard assessments.
- Interface with and present to internal and external clients.
- Be a recognised expert in Blast Design analysis and provide subject matter expertise to our internal stakeholders and clients.
Although not essential the ideal candidate would have:
- A Security Licence (Class 2A) as required by the Security Industry Act, 1997
- Hold the appropriate security licencing for the relevant state or territory.
- A university degree qualification in civil or structural engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant blast engineering related experience.
