As a Mobile Engineer at Entain, you'll have a pivotal role in defining the technical direction of the new Ladbrokes and Neds apps. Your focus will be on ensuring that the apps meet the highest technical standards and effectively cater to our customer's needs.

In this position, you'll actively contribute to the development of mobile applications by working on core functionality and seamlessly transitioning from react-native to native. Your expertise will be invaluable in writing efficient and maintainable code as we enhance the apps' performance and improve the user experience.

Where and how you can work
This position can be based in various locations including Brisbane, Australia (HQ), Darwin, Sydney, and Melbourne, or can be remote within Australia. Your day-to-day.

• Advocate for the mobile platform and collaborate with engineering and design teams to establish best practices and leverage native frameworks effectively.
• Prioritize scalable feature development, covering the entire development process from measurement and design to testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, including setting up code standards, architectural guidelines, and best practices for mobile development.
• Identify areas for improvement and implement optimization strategies to ensure exceptional performance and smooth operation of mobile applications.
• Uphold code quality standards and practices to maintain high-quality code throughout the development process.
  
  

You're a match if you have….

• Demonstrated commercial software development experience, specifically in designing, building, and operating large-scale mobile platforms, as this position requires expertise in handling significant scale and complexity projects.
• Commercial experience in iOS, SwiftUI, and/or Android, Jetpack Compose. We value well-documented, performant, tested, and easily maintainable code that adheres to best practices.
• Proven track record of providing constructive feedback during code reviews.
• Strong problem-solving skills are essential, showcasing the ability to identify and resolve issues swiftly.
• You excel in critical and creative thinking, enabling you to come up with innovative solutions.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm and a willingness to tackle challenges head-on, you are not afraid to dive into complex problems.

• Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Automate the provisioning and configuration of infrastructure components.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automating the build, test, and deployment processes.
• Ensure the scalability and reliability of CI/CD workflows.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Orchestrate and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes or similar tools.
• Implement security best practices in the CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Automate repetitive tasks and manual processes to improve efficiency.
• Scripting experience with languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a DevOps role.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Travis CI.
• Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible).
• Familiarity with security best practices in cloud environments.

Responsibilities:

• Server infrastructure commissioning, monitoring and support.
• Management of servers, volumes, memory, CPU load, resourcing, costing and balancing.
• Designing and maintaining efficient routing and connectivity of systems.
• Installation, monitoring, maintenance and repair of highly redundant software systems that provide critical services.
• Management, monitoring, scaling and support of Kubernetes cluster nodes and deployments.
• Implementation and support of continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
• Identify areas where automation would result in improvement to existing solutions.
• Collaborate with other departments to determine solution requirements.
• Implement solutions that automate existing manual and semi-automated processes using a broad range of technologies.
• Support existing processes through monitoring, debugging and diagnosis.
• Provide infrastructure setup and support services for other members of the Data & Analytics department.
• Document processes and architectures.
• Training and mentoring junior staff in the use and maintenance of our technologies.
• Integrate new and existing applications across the business suite to provide efficient data pipelines.

About you..

• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Google cloud, Azure, etc).
• Experience with software-defined infrastructure (using terraform, Kubernetes etc) with a deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture and objects.
• Experience administering and using source control, continuous integration and deployment, and/or containerised applications.
• Development skills in a broad range of serious back-end programming languages (Python, Java, C++, C, C# etc)
• Detailed understanding of traditional relational database concepts, administration and design (MySQL, Postgres, SQL Server or similar)
• Ability to convey complex concepts to other staff possessing a broad range of varying technical competencies.
• Exposure to designing and implementing sustainable network, server, application and data architecture.
