Primary Details Time Type: Full time Worker Type: Employee Technical Services Officer - Construction and Engineering Location: Open Nationally Type: Permanent, Full-Time The opportunity Technical Services Officer - Construction and Engineering - Provide technical support to a claims team, managing complex construction and engineering claims while ensuring exceptional customer service. Your new role The Technical Services Officer - Construction and Engineering within Casualty Claims will provide technical information, guidance and support to claims service teams, manage a portfolio of complex construction and engineering claims, deliver claims service to customers, assist with auditing of claims files, perform key review activities and reduce the number of claims. Your responsibilities will include: • Support the implementation of the claims strategy to enable delivery of overall business targets • Negotiate settlements of claims within authority levels • Assist with auditing and key review activities of claims files • Interpreting and actioning assessor, adjusting and expert reports, managing and instructing investigations and implementing findings in accordance with the overall strategy • Manage portfolio of complex construction and engineering claims effectively to achieve solid financial outcomes through effective decision making • Preparation for and attendance at settlement conferences, hearings, and other dispute resolution activities • Maintain current knowledge of insurance guidelines and policy changes and modifications • Compliance with all legislation, industry codes and company policies • Support the Service Manager and coordinate key review activities • Key technical referral point for claims queries from the Construction team • Deliver training • Engage with internal stakeholders (product, underwriting, sales) to support market facing activities, submissions for new business and develop customer value proposition • Provide feedback on policy wordings and endorsements About you • Relevant tertiary and/or industry qualifications in disciplines including engineering, construction, insurance and/or law • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in managing complex construction and engineering claims and/or in a similar role within the insurance industry • Deep knowledge of construction and engineering insurance products • Strong problem solving and analytical skills • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills • Capacity for self-reflection • Capacity to give constructive feedback on claims performance to team members • Exceptional Written and verbal communication skills • A flexible attitude and a motivated, service-orientated approach that allows you to deliver superior results to your clients and deal with customers confidently and with empathy About QBE We can never really predict what's around the corner, but at QBE we're asking the right questions to enable a more resilient future - helping those around us build strength and embrace change to their advantage."
