The Opportunity
Come and discover the opportunity to join our Slabmaking team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Crane Automation Operations Support – 24 month fixed term. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
Our Slab Yard department, which is part of the Slabmaking team, is currently embarking on Phase 2 of our Crane Automation Project, including the introduction of a Warehouse Management System (WMS). In this role, you will be embedded into the Project Team and provide the team with knowledge of operational warehouse and scheduling processes. You will ensure the safe and efficient integration of the project and WMS into the operational process of the Slab Yard.
Working closely with Operations, Engineering and Automation teams, you’ll utilise your problem solving, monitoring and logistical skills to achieve continuous process improvement across the Crane Automation Project and Warehouse Management System (WMS). This role is a 24-month fixed term, working Monday to Friday – dayshift. There may be potential to work some shift work to support Operational Teams during automation/systems implementation.
What Will You Do?
You’ll provide your knowledge, support and technical guidance of operational processes to achieve optimum business outcomes. You will also:
- ensure safety standards are never compromised, making suitable changes when risks and opportunities are identified
- provide input to engineering, around warehouse functions, and scheduling processes that will directly improve performance and allow Slab Yard operations to be maintained or improved, whilst ensuring zero harm
- coordinate, and communicate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure they have an understanding of the operating process & equipment functionality
- analyse data and trends, that will contribute to the more effective and efficient operation of the automatic cranes
