First Derivatives is a leading provider of products and consulting services to some of the world’s largest finance, technology and energy institutions. The Company holds a niche market position in terms of domain knowledge of capital market asset classes (equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, commodities, etc), as well as expertise in leading financial services systems (such as Calypso, Murex, Opics, Summit, Principia, Opus, Wall Street, kdb+, etc).
They now seek an experienced Business Analyst to join the team in Sydney. The Business Analyst’s primary role is to work on a global investment bank's surveillance system that runs on KX technology to identify and detect potential market abuse.
This is for a full time role with an annual salary of $130,000 + Superannuation.
The Responsibilities:
· Create mapping specifications used to integrate trading data into the surveillance system.
· Develop and maintain tools to automate the analysis of large data sets, including real time data feeds and historical data.
· Work with cross functional teams to gather and document business requirements for surveillance tools and systems.
· Work closely with development teams to troubleshoot and optimise surveillance tools and systems.
· Lead the elicitation, definition, prioritisation and validation of requirements and design of business processes to meet the needs of the client
· Defining and driving ‘As Is’ and ‘To Be’ processes through
· Perform extensive Gap Analysis using data and process modelling techniques to create clear system specifications for the design and development of system software.
· Manage the development of Business Process Specifications and System Functional and Non-Functional Specifications
· Continuously liaise with business users to fully understand and close out any ambiguous requirements
· Reviewing and revising documentation in light of any new or changing information including implications
· Ensure that risks, project and operational, are managed in accordance with set risk framework
· Understand and adhere to the enterprise methodologies and processes in relation to project delivery
· Identify dependencies and document functional, non-functional, data and user interface requirements in Business Requirements Document (BRD), and Systems Requirements Specifications (SRS) documents.
· Responsible for deploying functional solutions, such as creating, adopting, and implementing system test plans, which ensure acceptable quality and integrity of the system
· Identify and evaluate inefficiencies and recommend optimal business practices, and system functionality and behaviour
· Ensure that test pack has full traceability and full product coverage back to the original business requirement document
· Creation and maintaining of test data and scripts for future reuse and regression testing.
· Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) against test cases and acceptance criteria and actively participated in and facilitated testing of the system during Smoke testing, Black Box testing, and Regression Testing. Verify that the functionality under test matches the expected result from the test-scripts.
· Testing of interfaces to downstream systems, ensuring input and output was as expected
The Requirements:
· Expected to be educated to a minimum of some post graduate degree level preferably in a STEM course
· A combination of a numerical background and a business analyst background is mandatory
· At least 4 years working in a high-performance computing environment in the capital markets or investment banking industry to include an appreciation of a range of asset classes
· At least 4 years of relevant business analyst working experience in financial industry capacity
· At least 4 years working experience in KX technology
· At least 4 years proficiency in using RDBMS concepts and worked with Oracle, MYSQL and SQL server
· Familiarity with various Murex Modules including: Trade Capture, Trade Events, Processes scripts, UDFs, Access Rights, Static Data, Maturity sets, Market Data, pre-trade workflows
· Technical skills including Unix, Shell Scripting, SQL, Interfaces would be an additional bonus
· Excellent communication skills and time Management Skills
· Good Analytical and reporting abilities
· Logical Approach to problem solving and an investigative and inquisitive mind
