The Opportunity

Our Western Sydney Service Centre is looking for Team Members in our Operations team based in Erskine Park. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, you'll be working with BlueScope’s newest paint line, featuring modern equipment and automated process’ throughout the facility. You’ll be working with premium COLORBOND® products and contribute to exceeding our customers expectations by working proactively and flexibly with our operations and maintenance teams.

We are growing our team to support our new Metal Coating Line project, increasing our existing paint line operations at the Western Sydney Service Centre.  This development will provide up to 240,000 tonnes of additional capacity to feed COLORBOND®, ZINCALUME® and TRUECORE® steel products, used for roofs, house frames and fencing.

This varied operator role will see you, operating machinery, troubleshooting equipment, and carrying out plant setups and isolations, with a strong focus on safety and quality. Working in a supportive team environment, you’ll contribute to exceeding our customers expectations by working proactively and flexibly with our operations and maintenance teams. We ensure that all our employees are supported with the necessary training and equipment to complete these tasks safely. This position works a desirable rotating 12-hour day and night shift, 5 days a week (no weekends!)

As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products Portfolio, we have five major manufacturing sites at Western Port which operate 24 x 7 and deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to export and domestic customers.

In this 12 month secondment, you’ll lead a busy team of Process Specialists, working collaboratively to support our Cold Reduction Manufacturing Operations. You'll work to deliver practical improvements and carry out technical investigation and work execution.  Being producers of superior product, you'll be a subject matter expert in your field, working with data and assisting in the resourcing for trials and ensuring all works are complying with safety and environmental legislation.

What Will You Do?

Providing leadership, management and support to the Process Technologist team you'll:

• monitor the performance of the manufacturing units to meet the operating budgets, including an ongoing gap analysis of the key operational issues and areas for process improvement
• improve the technical capability of the manufacturing units through engineered process controls to improve reliability, product quality, conversion cost efficiency and energy efficiencies
• provide the strategic direction in consultation and clarify the vison for the vison and purpose for the team.

What Will You Do?

The Rewards Manager is an integral part of BlueScope’s purpose: To create and inspire smart solutions in steel, to strengthen our communities for the future.

As part of our Australian Steel Products (ASP) business, you will identify, design and implement the remuneration and benefits programs for ASP to support the ongoing attraction and retention of talent that supports the continual success of our business.

This role will report to the GM People, ASP and will be part of the ASP People leadership team.

The Opportunity

You will lead the team that designs a fit for purpose, rewards and benefits program that compliments and supports the ASP and global remuneration strategy. This will include service awards, recognition, and governance.

You will work closely and develop meaningful relationships with business leaders and cross-functional teams. Utilising your leadership and influencing ability, you’ll guide these stakeholders through strategic HR initiatives, the annual ASIR process and general reward frameworks and trends.

You will also contribute to the implementation of a new HRIS and related systems, ensuring remuneration aspects are actively represented with the user experience front of mind.

Your Background

We’re expecting you to be a confident and influential communicator, who is able to build trust and meaningful relationships across an enterprise organisation. You will have experience in a senior remuneration and benefits position, with a history of implementing complex reward strategies and solutions.
