About This Opportunity?

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to innovative research developments within the scope of data management and data mining. This position will be jointly supported by ARC Discovery Project DP200103650 Making Spatiotemporal Data More Useful: An Entity Linking Approach and the Australian Research Council (ARC) Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Information Resilience (CIRES).

This position will be based in CIRES which provides additional opportunities to the successful candidate to work across multiple projects with industry and government partners, providing a wealth of experience in multi-disciplinary teams, research planning, and industry and public sector dynamics. As a research focused academic at level A the incumbent will be supported and guided by more senior academic research staff with the expectation of an increasing degree of autonomy over time.

Key responsibilities will include:?

Research
Conduct innovative and reproducible research related to data management, with a particular focus on entity linking and privacy protection of spatiotemporal data.
Disseminate results through high-quality publications and open-source algorithms.
Participate in regular meetings to discuss project objectives, methodology and outcomes.
Participate in interactions and liaisons with research and industry collaborators.
Produces quality research outputs consistent with discipline norms by publishing or exhibiting in high-quality outlets.
Participate in applications for competitive research funding to support projects and activities.
Work with colleagues in the development of joint research projects and applications for competitive research funding support.
Contribute to progressing towards transfer of knowledge, technology and practices to research end users through translation, including commercialisation of UQ intellectual property.
Develop a coherent research program and an emerging research profile.
Review and draw upon best practice research methodologies.

Supervision and Researcher Development
Contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).
Demonstrate personal effectiveness in supervision and the management of researcher development.
Effectively lead and develop supervisee performance and conduct by providing feedback, coaching, and professional development.
As appropriate, manage research support staff effectively throughout the employee lifecycle in accordance with University policy and procedures.
Work to promptly resolve conflict and grievances when they arise in accordance with University policy and procedures.

Citizenship and Service
Show leadership of self through collaboration and active participation in priority activities for the unit
Provide support to other academic positions and unit operations as needed during other team members’ absences.
Contribute to internal service roles and administrative processes as required, including participation in decision-making and service on relevant committees.
Collaborate in service activities external to the immediate organisation unit.
Begin to develop external links and partnerships by cultivating relationships with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community.
Any other duties as reasonably directed by the supervisor.

This is a full-time fixed-term position from 15th February 2024 – 14th February 2026 at Academic level A. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $75,808.68 - $100,926.59 plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $88,696.16 - $118,084.11 annually.?As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You ?
Completion or near completion of a PhD in Computer Science in the area of Data Management, Data Mining, or Data Science, preferably with experience in multi-modality data including but not limited to spatiotemporal data.
Demonstrated expert knowledge and experience in developing machine learning and deep learning methods, preferably pre-training and self-supervised learning techniques applied to spatiotemporal data analysis
Knowledge of issues and challenges underpinning modern data science, especially spatiotemporal data management (e.g., data storage, data integration, spatiotemporal indexing, data mining,).
Experience in conducting research projects, demonstrating high-level written and oral communication skills.
Peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals or premiere conferences relevant to data mining or data science, e.g., SIGMOD, VLDB, ICDE, KDD, ICDM, AAAI, IJCAI, WWW, SIGIR, CIKM, CVPR, ICML, NeurIPS and ACM/IEEE transactions.
Ability to work both independently and as a member of a cross-disciplinary research team.
Experience in supervising research students (e.g., PhD, Mphil, Honours).

Desirable
Demonstrated experience in working on long-term (at least one year) research projects.
Ability to develop industry liaisons and professional contacts
Broad knowledge of industry solutions and tools in data science

About the opportunity

ARIAM Hub is a collaboration between leading academic researchers and experts from the Australian robotics industry supported by the Australian Research Council to deliver research excellence in robotics for asset management. ARIAM spans 3 renowned Australian universities: The University of Sydney, QUT and ANU. This position will be supervised by Dr Donald Dansereau, head of the Robotic Imaging Lab within the Australian Centre for Robotics (ACFR) at the University of Sydney. The ACFR is one of Australia’s leading robotics research groups, and the Robotic Imaging Lab is focused on endowing machines with new ways of seeing the world.

We are expanding our team and have multiple positions opening as part of ARIAM. We are currently seeking an ambitious and talented Postdoctoral Research Associate to undertake fundamental and applied research in novel computer vision approaches to high-fidelity drone-based 3D reconstruction of buildings and infrastructure. As part of the Australian Robotic Inspection and Management Research Hub (ARIAM), this position involves working closely with Hub Industry Partner Trendspek on their precision asset modelling and intelligence technology. As part of the research hub you will have opportunities to travel and collaborate with our partners across Australia.

Our current research will focus on combining novel scene representations and computational imaging approaches to enable greater performance in modelling visually challenging scenes from drone-based imagery. Depending on interest and ability there is also scope to develop novel imaging technologies to further improve performance.

This robotic vision-focused position will advance the 3D reconstruction technology required for modelling complex 3D infrastructure. Key challenges include complex appearance due to reflective and transparent surfaces, complex geometries, and dense occlusion from vegetation.

Depending on ability and interest, candidate approaches can include combining representations and visual processing from the graphics and vision communities, including inverse rendering and novel visual and geometric representations, and novel computational imaging devices and algorithms. This project will offer dramatic improvements in sensing robustness and performance, and geometric and textural accuracy in drone-based 3D asset inspection.

In this role you will:

? work closely with a team of project academics, engineers, and PhD students
? develop and characterise novel robotic vision representations, algorithms and/or imaging technologies
? contribute to the ARIAM Hub’s demonstrator program that will showcase your research and that of other Hub projects
? contribute as a researcher to project report preparation, presentation at internal workshops, and dissemination at top international conferences and journals as well as via internal workshops and presentations.

In this position, you will play an important role into generating the best laboratory evidence to ultimately drive clinical translation of results for one of the most difficult-to-treat types of childhood cancer, called sarcoma. The position will include work on in vivo sarcoma patient-derived xenograft models, including tumour implantation, in vivo therapy experiments, post-treatment tumour analysis (eg immunohistochemistry, western blot), and survival/growth analysis. We have a range of promising drugs lined up for in vivo testing, and a very real possibility that if these drugs continue to perform well in our experiments, accelerate clinical translation. It will also involve assisting in the molecular and functional studies of sarcoma cell lines and sarcoma samples, including examining the consequences of mutations/fusions, developing functional genomic screens, test drug responses, examine (phospho)protein signal transduction pathways, and identifying potential drug targeting strategies. As our Research Assistant your purpose will be to: Set-up and work with sarcoma patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models. This will involve the subcutaneous engraftment of PDXs, monitoring, and treating via oral gavage or IP. In this position, you will play an important role into generating the best laboratory evidence to ultimately drive clinical translation of results for one of the most difficult-to-treat types of childhood cancer, called sarcoma. The position will include work on in vivo sarcoma patient-derived xenograft models, including tumour implantation, in vivo therapy experiments, post-treatment tumour analysis (eg immunohistochemistry, western blot), and survival/growth analysis. We have a range of promising drugs lined up for in vivo testing, and a very real possibility that if these drugs continue to perform well in our experiments, accelerate clinical translation. It will also involve assisting in the molecular and functional studies of sarcoma cell lines and sarcoma samples, including examining the consequences of mutations/fusions, developing functional genomic screens, test drug responses, examine (phospho)protein signal transduction pathways, and identifying potential drug targeting strategies.
As our Research Assistant your purpose will be to:

Set-up and work with sarcoma patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models. This will involve the subcutaneous engraftment of PDXs, monitoring, and treating via oral gavage or IP.
Assist with the development and maintenance of primary sarcoma cell lines
Assist with drug screens and molecular work in the sarcoma cell line models
Assist with general laboratory management including contributing to ordering supplies, maintaining laboratory inventory
Achieve an outstanding level of competence in all aspects of experimental work 
Contribute to quality publications
Be involved in professional activities
Collate, organise and present experimental results
Be compliant with OH&S requirements for handling of human samples and according to Institute policies
Abide by privacy legislation, ethics guidelines and the legal requirements for research involving human material

 To succeed you will have…

Experience with in vivo mouse models/techniques is highly desirable but not essential, as training can be provided. Handling/restraint, oral gavage, and experience with subcutaneous engraftments is a big plus.
Practical experience in the conduct of molecular biology techniques (such as Western Blot, RT PCR, transfection and FACS) and cell culture techniques
Demonstrated experience in data analyses using Microsoft Excel and GraphPad Prism for basic statistical analysis
Commitment to conducting experiments involving humans, animals & GMOs under strict ethical and regulatory guidelines


Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to quickly respond to situations as they arise
Excellent attention to detail
Flexible attitude to work and ability to work to deadlines
Ability to maintain confidential information


Ability to work independently and as part of a team as necessary


Experience in sarcoma biology and sarcoma cell lines is an advantage

Network Engineer - One year contract - Parramatta Location, Attractive Daily Rates (Citizen/PR) Your new company We are hiring for NSW government organisation for a Network Support Officer. The position is based at Parramatta/Sydney Olympic Park but with some field support in greater Sydney and NSW. The position is reporting to Manager-Network Engineering The Network Support Officer - provides technical advice and support on network matters, deploys data, voice, Teleconference/AV and wi-fi networks on sites; provides network operational support to monitor the networks, trouble shoot and solve network issues. The LAN/WAN equipment are primarily Cisco, integrated with Aruba wi-fi products for wireless LANs. In addition, the network supports remote connectivity from staff, vendors, and suppliers. Applications in use range from common Microsoft products to specialized front line applications and voice services. The successful candidate will be required to be available on-call for a week to provide after-hour support, this arrangement is rotated every 4-6 weeks depending on resource availability. Your new role Provide network operational support - incident handling, network monitoring, troubleshooting, configuring and change implementation to minimize down-time and loss of productivity. Provide technical advice and support on networks for projects incl. identifying cable faults, on-site equipment installation, configuration, testing/troubleshooting, commissioning, and network documentation. This role is largely office based and involves work during normal business hours. However, this role also provides on-call support after hours and involves travel to remote sites and working after office hours to meet project deadlines if required. T he officer will provide network support for:

Cisco router, switch, voice gateway, CUCM, phones, Teleconference/AV devices
Aruba wi-fi system/equipment e.g. controllers, wireless access points (WAP)
Network monitoring
Troubleshooting and resolving network issues, incl network hardware, firmware, software, configuration
Teleconference/AV and Collaboration System support (e.g. MS Teams)
Liaise with product resellers/vendors for equipment support and Telcos for carrier services (e.g. Telstra)
Identify cabling faults and liaise with approved cablers to rectify cabling faults

What you'll need to succeed

Experience in a similar role providing network support for a range of Cisco and Aruba network products, and Teleconference/AV systems, incl installation, configuration, testing/troubleshooting, and commissioning
Demonstrated detailed knowledge and experience across a range of network devices including configuration installation and troubleshooting
Experience with Aruba wireless networks and products such as controllers, access points etc.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and project management skills.
NSW Driving License is mandatory.

About This Opportunity
We are seeking an inspired and talented postdoctoral researcher in molecular immunology to join our team. The project will explore the molecular basis of immunity to disease, inter-individual immune variation, and vaccine responsiveness using samples from human experimental infection models or vaccination. The primary focus of the research is to accelerate the development of immunotherapeutics, vaccines and diagnostics against chronic infectious diseases using systems immunology as a platform. It will provide an opportunity to be involved in cutting-edge advances spanning diverse fields of immunology and functional genomics, including single-call and spatial transcriptomics. The work will complement ongoing systems-based and therapeutic development efforts at UQ directed at infectious and chronic disease and is anticipated to have broad application to many disease targets. The successful applicant will be encouraged to pursue independent research interests and supported in their career development.

Key responsibilities include:?
1. Research
Advance a cutting-edge research program.
Produce quality research outputs consistent with discipline norms by publishing in high quality outlets and presenting project outcomes via conference presentations and seminars.
Provide technical leadership of project teams, including the development and implementation of project plans, resource management, scheduling, and reporting.
Effectively monitor and report progress against agreed milestones.
Review and draw upon best practice research methodologies.
Contribute to transfer of knowledge, technology and practices through research translation, including commercialisation of intellectual property.
Cultivate partnerships with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community.
Contribute to the development of joint research projects and funding applications

2. Supervision and Researcher Development
Contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students
Demonstrate personal effectiveness in supervision and management of researcher development.
Work to promptly resolve conflict and grievances when they arise in accordance with University policy and procedures.

3. Citizenship and Service
Contribute to service and engagement roles and activities.
Demonstrate citizenship behaviours that align to the UQ values.

This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to 1 year with possibility for extension . At Academic level A the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $75,808.68 - $100,926.59, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $88,696.16 - $118,084.11 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You
PhD in infectious disease, vaccinology, immunology, biomedical science or related area.
Demonstrated proficiency to carry out high quality research, and proven record of professional achievement in the relevant discipline area
Expertise in cellular and molecular immunology is required.
Expertise in systems immunology and computational sciences is desirable.
Forward thinking, innovation and creativity are encouraged.
Excellent organisational skills, lab management skills, and ability to work to tight deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Ability to work independently as well as part of a cohesive team
