Network Engineer - One year contract - Parramatta Location, Attractive Daily Rates (Citizen/PR) Your new company We are hiring for NSW government organisation for a Network Support Officer. The position is based at Parramatta/Sydney Olympic Park but with some field support in greater Sydney and NSW. The position is reporting to Manager-Network Engineering The Network Support Officer - provides technical advice and support on network matters, deploys data, voice, Teleconference/AV and wi-fi networks on sites; provides network operational support to monitor the networks, trouble shoot and solve network issues. The LAN/WAN equipment are primarily Cisco, integrated with Aruba wi-fi products for wireless LANs. In addition, the network supports remote connectivity from staff, vendors, and suppliers. Applications in use range from common Microsoft products to specialized front line applications and voice services. The successful candidate will be required to be available on-call for a week to provide after-hour support, this arrangement is rotated every 4-6 weeks depending on resource availability. Your new role Provide network operational support - incident handling, network monitoring, troubleshooting, configuring and change implementation to minimize down-time and loss of productivity. Provide technical advice and support on networks for projects incl. identifying cable faults, on-site equipment installation, configuration, testing/troubleshooting, commissioning, and network documentation. This role is largely office based and involves work during normal business hours. However, this role also provides on-call support after hours and involves travel to remote sites and working after office hours to meet project deadlines if required. T he officer will provide network support for:
Cisco router, switch, voice gateway, CUCM, phones, Teleconference/AV devices
Aruba wi-fi system/equipment e.g. controllers, wireless access points (WAP)
Network monitoring
Troubleshooting and resolving network issues, incl network hardware, firmware, software, configuration
Teleconference/AV and Collaboration System support (e.g. MS Teams)
Liaise with product resellers/vendors for equipment support and Telcos for carrier services (e.g. Telstra)
Identify cabling faults and liaise with approved cablers to rectify cabling faults
What you'll need to succeed
Experience in a similar role providing network support for a range of Cisco and Aruba network products, and Teleconference/AV systems, incl installation, configuration, testing/troubleshooting, and commissioning
Demonstrated detailed knowledge and experience across a range of network devices including configuration installation and troubleshooting
Experience with Aruba wireless networks and products such as controllers, access points etc.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and project management skills.
NSW Driving License is mandatory.
