The Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics (DIPL) plays a lead role in planning strategic and long-term integrated land and infrastructure that supports community needs, sustainable economic development and future growth across the NT. It provides a range of regulatory and customer services in relation to land and the built environment, including administrative support for a number of statutory boards. Your role sits within the Land Servicing and Engineering Unit which is responsible for program management, design and construction of subdivisions, land servicing infrastructure, including trunk infrastructure across the Northern Territory. The unit delivers projects of varying size and complexity to either develop land or adequately service it for future development. Projects delivered are diverse and generally include all essential service disciplines including roads, drainage, water, power, sewerage and communications etc.

Your new role
The primary purpose of the role is to manage a team of Engineering and Technical professionals including contracted resources, to deliver the LSE urban works program, and related strategic projects across Government. The position works across Government, with local Councils, road and utility services providers to effectively enable land for beneficial use.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Establish an excellent working relationship with stakeholders and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, on all matters relating to land development and strategic projects, and provide a high level of assistance on related matters that may be required to ensure that projects are achieved
Deliver land development and strategic works projects (including driving to site to inspect projects and attend meetings), prepare tender specifications and documentation, and assist with tender assessments and preparation of relevant business papers, media briefs, client briefs, reports and ministerial briefings
Manage cash flow and revenue controls for projects
Provide a high-level of professional advice to management, Project Managers and client agencies
Manage multi-disciplinary internal and external resources to deliver all phases of land development and strategic projects and provide high-level leadership to technical and professional employees including trainees and graduates
Carry out all duties in accordance with Departmental WHS, EEO and Environmental guidelines.
What you'll need to succeed
Recognised tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, and registration, or eligibility for registration, as an Engineer, in Australia
Ability to provide professional advice to Executive and Senior Management on land development and strategic projects, program and management issues
Ability to lead a multi-disciplined resource team to develop and deliver Value for Money outcomes for the land development and strategic projects program
Good written and oral communications skills including the ability to prepare design, procurement and project management documentation for land development and strategic projects
Knowledge of managing risk in the context of land development and strategic projects
Demonstrated ability of contemporary best practice in business management, program and project management, contract management, construction management and procurement
A current NT Driver's Licence, or ability to obtain.
