The Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics (DIPL) plays a lead role in planning strategic and long-term integrated land and infrastructure that supports community needs, sustainable economic development and future growth across the NT. It provides a range of regulatory and customer services in relation to land and the built environment, including administrative support for a number of statutory boards. Your role sits within the Land Servicing and Engineering Unit which is responsible for program management, design and construction of subdivisions, land servicing infrastructure, including trunk infrastructure across the Northern Territory. The unit delivers projects of varying size and complexity to either develop land or adequately service it for future development. Projects delivered are diverse and generally include all essential service disciplines including roads, drainage, water, power, sewerage and communications etc.

Your new role The primary purpose of the role is to provide leadership to a team of engineers and be the primary source of technical information and resource for delivery of land servicing, Capital projects, and headworks programs for the Housing program.
Key duties and responibilities:
Provide strategic technical advice and oversight of complex strategic infrastructure planning projects
Manage the staff and resources of the Engineering work unit, acting as a point of escalation
Plan and provide adequate technical resourcing to current and future projects under the Housing Program
Ensure all technical information is appropriate and relevant through quality assurance
Formulate cost effective design, efficient strategies, and continuous improvements to ensure a high standard of technical output in the delivery of land servicing
Monitor and manage Engineering Consultancy panel, and other relevant consultant panel contracts
Build and manage sound relationships across the agency, technical organisations, authorities, and other stakeholders to maximise the outcome of the capital works programs
Provide technical assistance and advice to prepare detailed infrastructure implementation plans for the delivery of approved land development projects, infills and other projects delivered through the Capital Works programs - including the recently announced $4 billion National Partnership for Remote Housing NT.
What you'll need to succeed
A civil engineering degree (or alternative relevant specialty)
Strong leadership skills with experience in staff management
A highly developed understanding of technical engineering practices in relation to land development
Experience in procurement, planning, concept development and contract management
Proven ability to provide technical support and advice to successfully deliver land development and infrastructure projects
Strong stakeholder management and relationship management with the ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures
Well-developed strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills
Well-developed program management, leadership and resource management skills
