About our Engineering Team
The Jetstar Engineering Team are at the forefront of delivering operational excellence. They are responsible for ensuring the airworthiness and reliability of our fleet. Our team has the opportunity to work not only on Jetstar aircraft, but also support Qantas Group A320/1, B717 and A321 Freighter aircraft and Jetstar Branded Airlines (JBA’s) in Singapore and Japan.
The Opportunity
As the Technical Specialist (Structures), your core responsibility will be to manage Jetstar’s A320/1 Fleet Structures during C Checks, Operational AOG’s and Hangar visits, for scheduled work packs, ad-hoc work packs and defect rectification.
The primary function of the Technical Specialist role is to support the Duty Technical Manager in providing technical support to the AMO’s, monitoring and managing aircraft fleet health, providing a single point of contact to Maintenance Planning and Technical Service for ongoing campaigns & modifications and assisting in the recovery of disruptions during day of operations.
The Technical Specialist also works closely with our reliability team to identify and address recurring defects and to isolate rogue components which may be affecting fleet OTP in addition to working with Maintenance Planning and the MSC functions to ensure rectification activity is planned effectively across the line maintenance network.
Reporting to the Base & Intermediate Maintenance Manager, broader responsibilities for this role will include:
Act as AMO primary focal point for internal and external stakeholders on all items relating to Structures related activity
Use best endeavours to ensure that the Aircraft Structural repairs are delivered to match requirements set by Jetstar management
Take on ownership of complex technical requirements to ensure efficient return to service of aircraft
Assist structures technicians with damage mapping
Provide reporting and repair recommendations in conjunction with structures technicians
Support Jetstar AMO maintenance activity, including AOG recoveries to reduce ground time and improve aircraft availability
Assist and provide information to Commodities and Contracts Manager for use in the development of business strategies
Focus on sustainable future and cost reduction strategies.
Develop understanding of stock holdings on structures LRU’s, and consumable and expendables
Make recommendations for min/max stock holdings.
This is a unique opportunity working closely with our base maintenance team where you will also play a pivotal role working closely with our frontline Engineers. We are seeking an individual with experience in, and a passion for Structural aircraft maintenance.
To be successful in this opportunity, you will possess the following skills & experience:
Exposure to Structures Aircraft Maintenance – essential
Exposure to Airbus SRM - Essential
Ability to communicate & negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to compile complex technical reports to provide Aircraft OEMs with required information to make decisions on pathway to airworthiness.
Competent in sheet metal work terminology and reporting requirements.
Process driven, with experience in constructing new processes to deliver business goals.
Highly motivated with a learning mindset
Able to build effective working relationships.
Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft suite of software solutions
Experience working with Airbus fleet desirable.
