We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Coastal Engineer or Scientist to join our Sydney or Perth office.  The position is ideal for a coastal engineering or oceanography graduate or early career professional with up to 5 years' experience.  The role offers a hands-on practical introduction to coastal process investigations, with exposure to numerical modelling and data analysis, whilst providing general assistance to our team in other areas such as programming, GIS and data compilation.  This diverse role will include mentoring and advice from experienced engineering and science professionals.  Baird undertake projects throughout Australia and there will be opportunities to be involved in projects worldwide as part of the global Baird team.

The roles and responsibilities of this position will consist of a variety of assignments that require the application of beginner-to-moderate analytical skills, under the guidance from senior engineers and scientists, including but are not limited to:

• Background research and data gathering tasks.
• Data processing and analysis of metocean and environmental data.
• Numerical modelling of coastal processes.
• Data presentation and visualisation.
• Assistance with the preparation of proposals, reports and presentations.

• Maintain software-defined declarative infrastructure, at scale.
• Manage large-scale infrastructure with code.

• Resolve operational issues in the load-balancing infrastructure of both an urgent and non-urgent nature.
• Take a lead role in the engagement and mitigation of outage-causing events or issues.
• Engage deeply in the sustainment function to proactively analyze network parameters such as capacity and availability to ensure issues are fixed before they cause an outage.
• Review, consult and prepare for planned change introduction to the production environment.
• Participate in rotating “on-call” schedule with other members of the team including weekends.
• Perform software upgrades and security patching.
• Partner with the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team to provide mentorship and input on operational process improvements.
• Provide feedback to infrastructure architects on design issues or improvements and input into the design process for new initiatives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation of the infrastructure and processes.
• Contribute to processes and automation to help build a low-touch, continuous deployment infrastructure where inputs at one end of the deployment pipeline are manifested in production in minutes with zero impact and a 100% success rate, allowing us to deploy or update at scale with a few clicks.

The Cyber Security team provides governance, audit, control, and operational Cyber Security capabilities to support business and operational objectives of Nine group. Minimising friction and managing appropriate risk are key tenets of the team.  The Security team works closely with the Security Cloud Practice, Product Engineering, Network and Infrastructure and Services teams to collaboratively manage cyber controls.

As the Application Support Engineer, Identity, Governance and Administration (IGA), you will be responsible for managing the identity systems, services and environments.  This is an important role within the cyber security team and will provide an opportunity for someone to contribute to a significant uplift in Nines security posture.  This is a permanent full time opportunity. 

Key accountabilities of this role is to 

• Be accountable for providing the operational support of Nine's identity and access management (IDAM) systems and assist with their ongoing deployment.

• Identify ways to improve performance and stability of the services and applications through continuous improvement and automation.

• Collaborate with Nines IDAM stakeholders and contribute to the deployment and improvement plans for the Identity roadmap.

• Work closely with the SOC, functional and technical teams to provide timely resolution of level 2 and 3 identity related incidents and problems.

• Work with application owners to assess and prioritise their readiness to be on-boarded to the identity and access management system and lead the onboarding.

• Perform user access reviews to ensure the principle of least privilege is enforced throughout the organisation.

• Work closely with the cyber risk team to enforce access control policies, standards and guidelines.

The Role:

We’re currently looking for a talented Data Engineer / Machine Learning Engineer to help leverage our accumulated shipment data to build out a best in class AWS Data Warehouse for use by our Data Science and BI teams.

We are developing some game changing prediction and recommendation engines to disrupt the freight industry and there is an opportunity for the right candidate to get hands-on with not just the ETL process but to also collaborate with our Data Scientists to assist in feature engineering and optimise models for production deployment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines from our production databases (PostgreSQL/MongoDB/TimeStream) using AWS Glue.
• Collaborate with software engineering, data science and BI teams to understand data requirements and ensure data availability and quality.
• Develop and deploy machine learning models using AWS SageMaker.
• Manage and optimise AWS infrastructure components to ensure performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Implement and maintain monitoring and logging solutions for the data and machine learning pipelines.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or Machine Learning Engineer, with a focus on AWS technologies.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as S3, Glue, Redshift, SageMaker, Aurora and others.
• Proficient in Python and Terraform / CDK
• Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
• Experience deploying and managing machine learning models in production.
