The Opportunity:

As a senior member of the maritime engineering team you will be responsible for supervision of staff and stakeholders, engineering functions, design review facilitation and integration guidance.

This is a critical function that will cross all areas of the sustainment program.  You will provide engineering subject matter expertise, manage project budgets, contractors and suppliers.  Working alongside the Principal Engineer your role will be to mitigate risk and manage progress of engineering teams in line with project scope and deadlines.

This is a permanent opportunity based in Sydney.

Roles and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Provide expert engineering advice and support to Defence executives, managers, staff and industry partners and customers.
• Manage the required systems engineering services include requirements engineering, integration engineering, verification and validation, test and evaluation, mechanical, electrical, structural and safety engineering.
• Conduct integrated planning, scheduling, risk management and estimating of work/tasks.
• Recommends process, product or service improvements.

The Endpoint Engineering team is responsible for maintaining the Standard Operating Environment using both traditional and modern toolsets, application packaging and ensuring compliance across our customer environments.

About the Role

This role is available across our offices in Australia: Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane. As an Endpoint Engineering Team Leader, you will lead a team of Endpoint Engineers and application packagers to ensure best practice support methodology is applied and customer outcomes delivered driving high levels of customer satisfaction. Due to the nature of Federal Government clients, Australian Citizenship and NV1 is required as part of the process. After hours and weekend work may be required as well as onsite and remote work.

What you’ll do

As an Endpoint Engineering Team Leader, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Estimating, scheduling and ensuring that all resource planning requirements are sufficient to provide the required levels of availability and support.
• Managing performance and culture of a high-performance team
• Managing team workload and priorities to achieve SLAs
• Managing customer expectations by overseeing the support model.
• Providing technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced members of the team.
• Determining how to use resources to meet service level agreements and support objectives.
• Remedying complex problems and provide technical consultation in line with the established support model.
• Planning systems capabilities and resources to fulfil user requirements.
• Mentoring other engineers in the team to uplift skills.
• Monitoring performance system performance for all corporate platforms.
• Managing the Installation, testing and maintaining system hardware and software.
• Providing guidance and advice within the latitude of established company policies in order to meet schedules and resolve technical problems.

What you’ll bring

We are looking for someone with extensive IT industry experience and 3 years plus in an Endpoint Engineering management role. SICE ANZ is currently embarking on exciting growth and we have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, versatile and results-oriented Engineering Manager to join our team in Sydney.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Offer expertise in integration strategy and contribute to effective project execution, including the management of project-specific activities such as tunnel closures.
• Develop and support commissioning strategies for various projects as required.
• Evaluate and contribute to integration strategies across various projects as required.
•  Define and establish the SICE “Way of Working” when it comes to aligning technical solutions among projects, ensuring well defined and consistent engineering processes within and across projects (e.g.: requirement analysis and traceability, definition of work breakdown structures, design content/phases/COTS, approach to implementation, testing and commissioning), overseeing the selection of tools for projects, such as requirement traceability tools, testing tools, defect management tools, etc., and supporting the establishment and tracking of the above “Way of Working” in all new projects.

• Work closely with local and off-shore SICE’s product team to define, validate and agree required improvements, new functionalities, architecture changes, etc. to conform our product roadmap for Australia.

• Conduct regular audits of technical processes and solutions
• Serve as the technical point of contact for all matters outside project technical issues, including presenting roadmaps and discussing potential new functionalities.
• Propose enhancements to existing clients.
• Support the Business Development team in tenders as required.

The preferred candidate will meet the following requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications in engineering or equivalent experience
• Over 5 years’ of relevant experience in similar engineering management roles, ideally within similar ITS/Tunnels/SCADA projects
• Relevant experience in technical project management, testing and commissioning management within the ITS industry
• Strong knowledge and expertise of engineering processes, tools, and technical solutions within the ITS industry.
• PLC/SCADA architecture knowledge
• Advanced level of use of MS Office tools
• Strong knowledge of testing tools
• Good knowledge and understanding of software development processes and methodologies
• Excellent ability to adjust to new environments and situations
• Strong communication and leadership skills, both verbal and written
• Excellent problem-solving ability and analytical skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as well as autonomously in an efficient manner
• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
