The Thales Australia Guided Weapons, Space and Hypersonics team, is seeking to appoint a Principal Technical Advisor – Propulsion Systems to join the team to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of an Australian solid rocket motor propulsion industry for defence applications.

Thales Australia is a key participant in the Government’s Guided Weapon & Explosive Ordnance strategy. This will see Australia domestically manufacture, design and develop solid rocket motors in support of the Australian Defence Force requirements. Thales Australia is working collaboratively with the Government and international weapon systems manufacturers to support and enable this domestic industrial capability ambition.

The Principal Technical Advisor – Propulsion Systems will bring their knowledge, skills and experience from solid rocket motor design, development and manufacturing to bear in supporting Thales Australia’s emerging design, test & evaluation, and industrialisation programs..

Responsibilities:

Provide expert technical advice and supervision to leadership, bids, project and production teams on military solid rocket motor propulsion systems design, development and manufacturing.

Monitor, advise and influence the engineering environment (process, practices and tools) consistent with the applicable rules, and particular necessities of propulsion systems program and bid needs.

Contribute as a leader of the Guided, Space & Hypersonics team to influence decisions, improve performance, operate safely and sustainably, and effectively manage risk in bids, projects and production activities.

Act as Product Design Authority or Project Design Authority for relevant propulsion related projects or products.

Lead technical development of engineering staff at all levels to deliver sustainable uplift in technology and industrial competency and capability.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, solve complex challenges, and ensure the highest level of propulsion performance and meeting requirements of defence applications

Requirements:

Tertiary qualified in Aerospace Engineering, or other suitable discipline

Extensive experience in solid rocket motor propulsion designing, analysis and testing

Proven track record of successful project leadership and technical advisory roles

Proven and effective leadership skills

High level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to lead and inspire multi-disciplinary teams

Neotech Motor Mechanic requires a full-time mechanic for employment in our Hoppers Crossing workshop.

We require a full-time motor mechanic with the right attitude and skills with at least 2 years of relevant experience and a minimum of a Cert IV qualification or equivalent in substantial experience. Salary of $70500 + 11% super for this full-time position.

You will undergo the following responsibilities and tasks.

Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications, and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations
Repair and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, and referring to service manuals as needed
Diagnosing faults and testing parts with the assistance of computers
Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and parts
Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components, and checking parts
Reassembling engines and parts following repair
Manage stock reordering and inventory as directed
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules , and regulations

Qualifications:

As a Venture Builder you will be an integral part of your local Drought and Innovation Hub, collaborating with a team of 8 peers across Australia. In the role, you will: 

• Collaborate with the other Venture Builders, and the Head of Ventures to deliver commercialisation support, coaching and mentoring to each cohort of innovators 
• Guide innovators through building a commercialisation plan and supporting the innovators towards effective business, market and customer development; this may include go-to market plans, and trial support  
• Co-facilitate the prioritisation of critical drought “challenges” which will form the focus for each cohort through engaging with farmers, agrifood corporates, local Drought and Innovation Hubs and the broader industry

We are hiring a Studio Operations Lead that will join the Beanstalk Ventures team. They will be responsible for the coordination and organisation of venture studio programs launched under Beanstalk Ventures. The first landmark studio program is the Drought Venture Studio. You will be working closely with the Studio Director and Head of Ventures and leveraging the programmatic knowledge of the Beanstalk Advisory team to ensure the Drought Venture Studio runs like a well-oiled machine.  

You will be leading the design and operation of the Drought Venture Studio’s internal operating system. This is not a copy and paste, we are looking for a leader who we can entrust to really take the reins and own the creation a high-performance workflow to underpin the world-first Drought Venture Studio.  

 

In this role, you will: 

• Build the operational workflow for key activities including (but not limited to): 

1. Internal communications 
2. Application and selection processes 
3. Onboarding and orientation of the Venture Builders 
4. Reviewing and support with refining the accelerator and venture program 
5. Facilitate processes for continued learning and development 
6. Programmatic evaluation, feedback and reporting 
7. Solidifying a manual for the entire program 
8. Crisis management 

• Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Drought Venture Studio, leading the operations and functions of the Studio 
• Engage regularly with Studio participants to ensure clarity of expectations and timelines 
• Develop and maintain a strong culture within the Drought Venture Studio – focused on high performance, collaboration, mutual support etc. 
• Review the service-level outcomes across support partners, ensuring accountability and providing feedback for change where required 
• Manage and track outcomes across the accelerator and Drought Venture Studio to ensure participants are well supported, and have clarity on the program journey 
• Work with the Studio Comms and Community Lead to design and implement Founder/CXO recruiting strategies 
• Organise the logistics of field trips, workshops, and get togethers for the Drought Venture Studio participants and team members 
• Organise networking events, knowledge-sharing sessions, and community-building activities to enhance engagement and connection across the program 
• Own feedback surveys and metric collection on program outcomes, regularly collate into a report for the broader organisation 

• Support the Studio Director in monitoring and evaluation requirements and reporting.

About You:

• 4+ years of experience in program or project management of larger scale programs 
• Experience in program management in the startup ecosystem will be considered favourably
• Highly organised, with the ability to use project management software to manage key programmatic milestones and coordinate with all roles across the Venture Studio
• Strong communicator with good interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Proactive problem solver who can be relied on to take initiative, ownership and getting things done

Skills, Qualifications and Experience – Selection Criteria

Essential

1.      Digital content creation and delivery: Experience in creating engaging content in a variety of formats for a range of channels, including web, social, email. Experience of developing and delivering successful multi-channel content campaigns.  

2.      Communications: Excellent communicator, with an editorial mindset and experience writing and creating content for a range of audiences. Understanding of the role of video in communications with the ability to brief and/or create video content, as required.

3.      Writing skills: Strong writing, editing and grammatical skills with the ability to adapt content for different platforms, channels, and target audiences.

4.      Project management: Naturally organised with a track record of delivering against objectives and deadlines. Able to manage overlapping deadlines and tasks and coordinate others in a fast-paced environment. Ability to effectively coordinate stakeholders in fast-paced agile situations.  

5.      Creative judgement: Excellent creative judgement with respect to images, copy and design. An editorial mindset and an eye for a story. 

6.      Attention to detail: Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance. 

Desirable

 ·        Relevant undergraduate qualification (e.g. in journalism, digital media, communications, media arts and production, marketing)  

·        Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, Canva 

·        Experience working in in an international development or church environment.

Product Management

Supplier Management

• Develop a deep understanding of your supplier’s capabilities (e.g. materials, costs, lead times), to ensure alignment with current and future business needs.
• Be accountable for professional and long term relationships with suppliers.
• Lead the supplier negotiations on commercial agreement, trading terms, rebates and payment terms.
• Manage the relationships and lead the negotiations with existing and new licensing and certification partners.
• Work alongside the QC team with regards managing supplier due diligence and product quality expectations.

Ideal background…

• Degree qualified in product management, business or other relevant qualification.
• Good knowledge and understanding of upholstery furniture manufacturing and logistics and the cost-drivers connected to that. 
• Solution oriented and strong business acumen with the ability to work on a strategic level as well as sustaining excellence in daily operations.
• The drive and energy to operate in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to take and execute decisions, with a solid sense of accountability and initiative.
• High-level attention to detail.
• Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate clearly and in a simple way.
• Experience in the US market is preferred.
