About the Role (your why)

We’re looking for a passionate Service Configuration Management Manager to join our IT Service management team, working in Australia and delivering Configuration Management Services to our valued customer base. In this role you will work collaboratively with other Datacom Service Operations team members, Service Delivery Managers and Technical teams.

What you’ll do

As Service Configuration Manager you will:

• Act as subject matter expert for Service Configuration Management for our customers

• Contribute to the achievement of the outcomes of the managed services contract
• Lead the Service Improvements for the Service Configuration Management Service
• Support the process to deliver an accurate CMDB
• Transition new customers to the Service Configuration Management Service.

Key to success in this role is expertise developed over 5+ years in a similar role, as you will be viewed as the Service Configuration Manager contact for our Datacom Customers.

Your ability to work with other members of Managed Service Operations team – specifically the Change Management teams and Technical teams to develop and deliver quality services for our customers is critical to the success of our model. As part of the role, you will provide quality customer service in performing the CMDB tasks which include CI to CI and Service to CI relationship mapping.

What you’ll do

As Mobility Engineer, you will be responsible for but not limited to:

• Be available to travel to Datacom, customer sites and conferences
• Using tools and processes to deliver services to customers in accordance with SLAs
• Operational support of customer systems including proactive monitoring of systems, assisting with incident resolution, performing standard and non-standard changes
• Identification of inefficient procedures or processes and suggesting improvements for implementation

What you’ll bring

You will have 5 years’ IT industry experience, preferably within an IT managed service provider, with approx. 2 years’ experience in a similar Mobility role. You will possess excellent knowledge of iOS, Android, MacOS and Windows 10 operating systems. Along with good working knowledge of networking and TCP/IP, AD, DHP, DNS and Enterprise applications. MobileIron, Google admin, VMware WS1 (SEG, UAG, ENS) and/ or Microsoft Intune administration skills would be a huge advantage. You will bring exceptional troubleshooting, customer service, communication, and prioritisation skills; and will be comfortable and able to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

About the Role, and Why it is a GREAT Step for You!

Datacom operations are seeking an Operations Centre Engineer whose role is to monitor systems including Windows, UNIX, Database, Cloud and backups in real-time on a 24x7x365 rotational basis and able to troubleshoot/triage/resolve events or escalating to specialist’s teams for resolution. You will receive a standby allowance for when offshift and when called in to cover, all hours are considered overtime. There is a shift allowance of 12.5% on all working hours too so that standard pay is as uniform as possible, regardless of if you are day or night shift.

It is essentially just above an entry-level role, so don't let the title scare you off! We do still need people with IT experience - the role is perfect for those who have done service desk or desktop engineering work - but note that this is still an associate level position. It is seen as a transitionary role and a great stepping stone to get into higher level IT roles, as has happened with many of our staff since the teams' inception 4 years ago. After working in this role, you should be able to handle the business critical tasks and changes while you have time to focus on any certifications you are interested in. You can really showcase your skills ihere and be involved with the technologies that you want to be involved with, initially at a lower level but you can steadily increase your utilisation of other, higher technologies as you grow and develop.

How you'll spend your time

This role will vary from day to day. It will always be interesting but might include: 

• Working side-by-side with our ‘dream team’ of other writers, teachers, simulation designers, illustrators, animators and editors to make the best science resource in the known universe.
• Finding novel ways to take the best aspects of the Australian and International science curricula and bring them together to create resource plans and unit plans that will excite teachers worldwide. 
• Collaborating with our engineering team on awesome new platform features or interactive simulations that support student understanding and leave room for teachers to shine.
• Raving on about the latest and coolest science news with other “science nerds” in our communal kitchen at lunchtime.
• Visiting schools with our amazing account managers to hear about teachers’ and students’ experiences at the coal-face and road-test new units and resources.

Hours and location

This is a full-time, permanent role with some flexible work hours. We really value collaboration and about three days in the work week are in person in the office but we also really value focus time and this can be done at home or in the office, whatever works for you!
