Science Content Coordinator

Stile Education

Stile Education company logo

At Stile, we have a key mission – to help teach scientific literacy skills. Currently, over 1,000 schools, 1,500,000 students and 52,000 teachers around the world use Stile.  From designing investigations to critically evaluating media statements, we want to equip our future citizens with the scientific literacy to confidently participate in public discourse around the ethics and social impacts of scientific issues.

We create world-class resources for science teachers (whom we call superheroes because… they are). Our resources (videos, lesson plans, questions, simulations, activities, and more!) spark excitement and curiosity in every student.

That's why we need your help! We’re looking for a creative, organised and determined person to support our content team in the crafting and publishing of our world-class science resources. As a Science Content Coordinator, you'll be working closely with the science content team, design team and engineering teams to assist in the creation, rollout, and maintenance of our suite of digital and print products. You'll oversee updates and reprints of our print product, co-ordinate regular releases of our digital products, and liaise with student testers and teachers, subject matter experts and career profilists to ensure our resources are bullet-proof before they get into the classroom.

We're passionate about giving students the best science education ever and we hope you are too. Ultimately, we're looking for people who love science and want to be an important part of communicating it to everyone.

You'll be someone with an eye for detail who relishes spinning plates in a supportive and collaborative environment and takes pride in being part of an outstanding team of science nerds. Sound interesting?

If so, please read below to find out more about what's in it for you. You can also read about the role's responsibilities in further detail.

If you'd like to apply, please send us your CV and a cover letter (no more than a page or two) explaining why you're going to smash this role out of the park. Include a paragraph on which Behaviours of an Effective Stile-ist most resonate with you or which you disagree with and why. Address your letter to Clare Feeney and submit both documents through the apply for this job link below.

Please note if your application does not include a cover letter it will not be considered.

More information on our hiring process is available here.

We can't wait to hear from you!

What's in it for you:

  • You'll be working on something that really matters. We're coaching students to become problem solvers and critical thinkers in partnership with teachers. The internet democratised information. With a strong command of science, we believe that tomorrow’s citizens and leaders have a fighting chance of sorting the misinformation from the facts.
  • You'll join a fantastic 70-strong team of teachers, scientists, artists and engineers who genuinely care about and work towards improving scientific literacy amongst our young citizens. We hold ourselves and each other to a high standard and love what we do.
  • Your own professional development – we're lifelong learners here at Stile. Alongside teaching you everything you need to know to succeed in this role, you’ll have the opportunity to attend internal and external PD.
  • A Mac laptop and whatever other bits and pieces you need to be productive.

How you'll spend your time

This role will vary from day to day. It will always be interesting but might include:

  • Working side-by-side with our ‘dream team’ of writers, teachers, simulation designers, illustrators, animators and editors to make the best science resource in the known universe.
  • Rolling out new engineering delights in our libraries to ensure teachers and students always have access to our most up-to-date content and features.
  • Working closely with the Head of Curriculum and Pedagogy to assist in the writing and publishing of teacher resources.
  • Supporting our amazing video production team in writing scripts, testing labs and coordinating filming on set. You may even be asked to step in front of the camera from time to time!
  • Raving on about the latest and coolest science news with other “science nerds” in our communal kitchen at lunchtime.
  • Coordinating and facilitating in-house and on-site student testing sessions for our work-in-progress resources and fostering a great sense of community with one of our main stakeholder groups.

A bit more about you

Don’t worry if you aren’t all these things!

  • You're incredibly organised and can manage several projects at a time.
  • You're smart and you love to get sh*t done. You can hit the ground running.
  • You have a strong track record as an administrative "superstar" who is not content until you’ve triple-checked all your dotted i’s and crossed t’s.
  • You're creative. You find inventive solutions to problems.
  • You're eager to learn. Super eager. You soak up feedback, incorporate it, and are constantly driven to be better. You can't help it.
  • You love working in a fast-paced environment. We're dynamic; we move quickly.
  • You're constantly thinking about how you could do your job better and accept feedback willingly. But you also aren't afraid to defend something when you think it's right.
  • You're passionate about sharing your love of science with others. It doesn't matter your background; what's most important is that you want to share your passion for science with hundreds of thousands of students across Australia and beyond.

Hours and location

This is a full-time, permanent role with some flexible work hours. We really value collaboration and about three days in the work week are in person in the office but we also really value focus time and this can be done at home or in the office, whatever works for you! To provide you with the best onboarding experience, the first 4-6 weeks of this role will be worked in-person in our Melbourne office. We're all about what you achieve, not the hours of the day that you achieve it. Our (awesome) office is located on Exhibition Street in Melbourne CBD.
