The Opportunity:
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Cook to assist with the daily preparation of meals and ensure the smooth functioning of the kitchen. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about cooking and has a keen interest in preparing Indian cuisine. Your Role Will Include:
1. Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of Indian dishes including curries, rice, bread, and other staple items, ensuring they meet high-quality standards.
2. Cooking and Plating: Cook menu items according to recipes and ensure consistency in presentation, portion sizes, and taste.
3. Hygiene and Safety: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, following strict food safety and hygiene practices to ensure a safe working environment.
4. Stock Control: Assist in monitoring stock levels and inventory, ensuring fresh ingredients are available and minimizing waste.
5. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure kitchen equipment and tools are properly cleaned, maintained, and safely operated.
6. Assistance in Food Service: Support kitchen staff in the preparation and service during busy meal periods, working efficiently to meet demand.
7. Menu Suggestions: Work with the kitchen team to provide input for daily specials or suggestions for new menu items, while keeping within the restaurant’s style and flavor profile.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Qualifications: Certificate III in Cookery or equivalent.
2. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of full-time, post-qualification experience as a Cook, preferably in an Indian restaurant or similar setting.
3. Skills: Practical knowledge of Indian cooking techniques, spices, and food preparation methods. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume kitchen.
4. Work Rights: Must have full working rights in Australia.
5. Personal Attributes: Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented. A genuine passion for food and a strong desire to learn and grow within the role.
