The Role
As safety and wellbeing is one of Bega’s Group main priorities, we have a newly created role at our Strathmerton site for a passionate and people-focused individual to join the site as a Safety and Wellbeing Officer to own, oversee and define safety and wellbeing policies and provide safety and wellbeing guidance.
In this unique opportunity, you will support the site’s Safety Advisor with developing, implementing, and monitoring programs to prevent injuries or health impairment.
You will be integral in improving safety performance at the site by positively influencing site safety practices and behaviours on a strategic and operational level. You will engage with the site’s workforce to increase safety maturity and awareness of day-to-day operations and activities. Flexible work arrangements (as agreed with your manager) are available, noting this role is based full-time at an operational manufacturing site.
Our Strathmerton, site is located on the Victoria-New South Wales border and is where our various cheese products get processed, wrapped, and packaged into various forms ready for distribution throughout Australia and export.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the site leadership team, internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement site initiatives on various communication and training strategies around preventative injury management.
Minimise risk exposures and ensure adherence to regulatory standards by working with all internal functions to ensure compliance programs are appropriately implemented and maintained.
Act as a Safety and Wellbeing SME by advising on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues, and escalating Safety issues as required.
Championing safety by constantly looking at Process Improvement initiatives and ways to increase safety performance and engagement.
Simplify and support with the translation of Bega’s corporate policies around safety and wellbeing and ensure a high level of understanding and clarity from the site’s employees.
About you
Ability to showcase commitment to the safety and wellbeing of others.
Experience working in a complex manufacturing environment and familiarity with safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications in related fields, such as WHS, Welling, and Injury Management/ RTW, will be an advantage.
Ability to influence decision-making and make a positive impact on both internal and external stakeholders.
Has strong computer and technical skills and enjoys learning new systems when required.
