You’ll Be Responsible For

• Qualifying, prospecting and creating opportunities within the enterprise space for our Head of Sales

The Technical Business Analyst is primarily responsible for understanding the business objectives and translating them into technical requirements. Working with multiple teams across the business, this role is responsible for translating stakeholder objectives into technical requirements, help articulate business value, assist in identifying solution options including pros-cons for each, support prioritisation and ensure that the changes and impacts are understood by the affected parties.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Strong and demonstrated skills in business process analysis and mapping
• Experience with Salesforce Administration highly regarded
• Strong understanding and knowledge of SDLC within an Agile environment
• Sound knowledge in maintenance and access to data and information, including the ability to identify, design, extract, and report on complex datasets, with a good understanding of SQL and relational data structures
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of configuration and coding practices of SaaS systems, ideally including AWS and Salesforce modules.

As part of our ongoing growth, we are expanding our product team and looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join our Melbourne office. We are looking for a great communicator and collaborator with experience working in Agile teams to deliver world-class digital products for our sporting clients.

You will be client facing and work as part of a cross functional team including designers, product managers, technologists and quality assurance engineers. The types of projects are varied, from websites and apps to marketing and data-focused products.

You will typically work in one of two phases:

- Discovery: helping our clients shape large digital products and technology projects, understanding the scope, technology and delivery approach, as well as the business case and rationale for investment. The nature of these projects varies significantly depending on the product, technology and client, but they always require a curious and diligent mindset, and a focus on ensuring we are bringing clarity to complex opportunities.

- Delivery: working as part of a team to build and deploy products for our clients. In this type of project, you will typically be responsible for running workshops and creating documentation and user stories ready for development. You will also be working closely with the engineers and testers to ensure the work delivered aligns with expectations.

This role requires an individual who brings energy, pragmatism and critical thinking to our clients, and you will also need to have a relentless focus on where client and customer value is. The role is hybrid remote, with two days per week in our office (located in Melbourne Central Tower) or at client offices desirable.

About the Role (your why)  

The Senior Project Manager role is responsible for planning, organising and technically leading, and controlling complex IT projects from initiation to completion, and be the go-to person for everything involving a project’s organisation, delivery, and timeline.  This role demands excellent leadership, communication and project management skills combined with a deep understanding of IT systems and technologies.

What you’ll do   

• Defining & confirming project scope, objectives, deliverables, and resource requirements.
• Tailoring project methodology to individual projects.
• Ensuring preparation/completion of large projects to appropriate quality standards within time/cost constraints as well as meeting contractual requirements and budget requirements.
• Managing project teams operating on complex/large projects, typically in a complex, multiplatform technical environment.
• Controlling project design and planning activities associated with large, complex applications and infrastructure development projects.
• Coordinating documentation, design, development and testing of enhancements and new development projects.
• Applying quality assurance processes and quality control measures to ensure project deliverables meet the required standard. Regularly check the quality of project outputs and identify and address any deviations.
• Controlling project schedules and ensuring that applications programs are delivered within given timeframes, meet user requirements, and are easily maintainable.
• Working with resource management, define, sourcing and managing necessary project resources.
• Providing direction to project team members according to established policies and management guidance.
• Preparing project budgets, attaining necessary approvals in a timely manner and monitoring project financials and the realisation of defined project benefits. Effectively controlling and managing the issues, risks, dependencies and changes in scope associated with IT projects Establishing, managing and reporting on project budget(s), analysing budget variances and recommending appropriate action.
• Exceeding stakeholder expectations through the application of stakeholder management disciplines. Developing and managing vendor contracts / agreements associated with projects under management.
• Handover of projects from the project team to the business-as-usual support team be it within another Datacom service line, the customer themselves and/or a 3rd party.
• Liaising between customers and Datacom service lines to identify opportunities for support delivery improvements, cost reduction and value-add to the customer / client 
• Assessing the impact of changes to project cost, schedule, and scope. Raising variations were appropriate to facilitate these changes. Developing change management plans and facilitate change requests with minimal disruption to project objectives.

What you’ll bring  

• Broad and deep understanding of technical infrastructure projects and related technology dependencies.
• Demonstrated understanding and implementation of Project Management disciplines. Strong financial management practices with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation and project revenue.
• Sound understanding and application of change management and Project Management competencies including scope, time, costs, quality, HR, communications, risk, procurement, and integration.
• Strong understanding of business requirements and technical limitations as determined by the organisation’s enterprise architecture.
• Demonstrable experience in people management and mentoring of project employees. At least 5 years of experience in Information Technology, with at least 5 years in Project Management.
• Proven experience in Customer and Senior Leadership Stakeholder management Experience liaising, and where required, managing 3rd party vendors.
• Effective leadership, coordination, motivational, negotiation and dispute resolution skills. Ability to apply analytical skill and conceptual thinking to operations and system planning across a range of technologies.
• Financial literacy to forecast and manage project budgets.
• Strong skills with Microsoft Office tools particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
• Ability to influence and build productive relationships with industry providers and stakeholders. Effective leadership, coordination, motivational, negotiation and dispute resolution skills. Strong understanding of project management principles.
• Ability to translate user needs into a technical solution to build and lead collaborative project teams to achieve organisational goals and objectives.

Who we are looking for...

We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager, who will be responsible for the day-to-day management of strategic design projects for clients in the government, not-for-profit, and private sectors. You will contribute to successful and profitable project outcomes, whilst ensuring client satisfaction and a positive working environment for our teams. 

You should have strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills and be a confident and influential communicator. Knowledge and experience of applying a variety of project management methodologies on complex, medium-to-large scale projects is essential. 

What you will do:

Practice and craft

• Ensure the successful delivery of complex research and design projects by managing resources to deliver to the agreed scope, budget and timeline
• Effectively and consistently communicate the project vision, objectives, risk, issues and status to clients, stakeholders and Paper Giant
• Educate clients and teams in various project management methodologies and draw on experience to optimise the project approach
• Work with the project team to define milestones and roadmaps for given projects and translate them into feasible and viable plans and requirements
• Schedule and communicate important events including internal project kick-off meetings, as well as client kick-off, showcases, and project retrospectives
• Lead project research operations, including recruitment of research participants and workshop support
• Ensure all projects are delivered to our high level of quality
• Proactively identify and communicate emerging client, team, project scope, or practice issues

Governance

• Demonstrate high levels of commercial acumen and seek to understand business priorities as a basis for decision making
• Interpret contracts and provide feedback to the business on potential risks
• Ensure effective project governance activities are implemented and adhered to, including project communication, risk mitigation, and scope definition activities
• Manage changes to scope thoroughly and in accordance with the contract 
• Ensure visibility and consistency of project information through setup and maintenance of projects in our online systems, including Google Drive, Harvest, Slack and Forecast

Managing client relationships

• Develop meaningful relationships with clients and stakeholders of all levels, and confidently facilitate discussions to negotiate scope, trade-offs, risk and budget  
• Lead presentations to small and large groups confidently and convey ideas and information in a clear and interesting way
• Generate leads or nurture new business opportunities with input of business leaders
• Consider what value we provide to clients and tailor the project approach to deliver client value and successful outcomes 
• Encourage clients to work with us again by providing an excellent client experience

Essential skills and experience

• Minimum 3 years experience working in an agency or consulting environment in a Delivery Manager, Project Manager or Producer role;
• Experience leading complex projects and managing budgets in excess of $200k;
• Experience using a variety of project management methodologies and are able draw on this knowledge to recommend the best approach for your project and client;
• Familiar with online collaboration tools such as Miro and Slack and know how to use them as part of your working process;
• Can give thoughtful, constructive, actionable critical feedback;
• Have a learning mindset and will seek to understand strategic design practices and methodologies;
• Experience working in an agency or consulting environment;
• Fluent in written and spoken English; and
• Full and current working rights for Australia.

Favourable skills and experience

• Familiar with government procurement and can create detailed governance documentation that meets requirements;
• Can interpret contract clauses and provide feedback to the business on potential risks; and
• Familiar with human-centred design methodologies and mindsets.

Remuneration

The salary range for this role is between $100,000 - $120,000, depending on your experience.
