We currently have an unprecedented opportunity for an experienced and dynamic sales professional to join Minor Hotels as our Area Director of Sales - Victoria and New South Wales. This position will be based in our Commercial Office on Market Street.

This newly established position will be responsible for spearheading the implementation and execution of sales strategies across Victoria and New South Wales. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders, and be responsible for driving revenue growth, maintaining optimal profitability, and delivering unparalleled guest services. 

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Developing and executing strategic sales plans and forecasts in conjunction with Revenue to achieve company objectives for all responsible revenue centres
• Evaluating sales and market mix potential for the cluster overall and properties
• Developing and managing sales operating budgets (OPEX)
• Ensuring effective control of sales results, taking corrective action where necessary
• Monitoring competitor set and their activity
• Maintaining and establishing relationships with key industry personnel
• Growing existing business and establish and pursue new sales leads
• Representing Minor Hotels brands at various tradeshows and other association meetings
• Managing sales team (incl. events team) to effectively meet all KPIs (incl. use of CRM – Dynamics)
• Develop and direct staff through various methods of feedback, coaching and training
• Report major issues to the General Managers/Area Manager for support and resolution

What you get to do in this role:

Lead, organize, and manage business operations for the global Sales function, including handling executive-level special projects and working collaboratively and cross-functionally with other global functions and business teams. The global Sales function interacts with virtually every aspect of the company, with some members embedded within other teams. This is a highly matrixed organization operating in a dynamic, high-growth global business environment.  

• Lead and drive operational aspects of the function, including global budget management, operational dashboards, monitoring and measurement of communications activities.
• Work directly with global sales leadership teams to drive special projects, organizational development, and strategy. Track KPIs and work with leadership team to ensure successful outcomes.
• Work closely with the broader sales leadership team and other company executives to ensure alignment of strategies, objective and activities; manage special projects and events as needed.
• Ensure best practice implementation and operational excellence across entire function.
• Drive consistent communications of priorities, activities, and results to team and relevant company stakeholders. Support presentation and reporting needs for the Sales function.  
• Collaborate with the leadership team to develop the annual objectives and coordinate organization-wide goals. Report quarterly accomplishments.

• Handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

• Plan, develop and implement promotional strategies and marketing plans.​

About the role

• Oversee and deliver performance objectives by successful delivery of Sales initiatives.
• Lead and manage the Sales teams to maximise market position of the hotels on an ongoing basis.
• Work with the Portfolio Director of Revenue and Portfolio Commercial Team to achieve optimum revpar/revenue/yield results for all segments of the business.
• Develop a tactical approach to ensure the acquisition of major business opportunities.
• Conduct regular meetings with the Sales team to share key communication and drive activity.
• Review weekly forecasts and market share reports and actively participate in ensuring business levels and market share is maintained.
• Maintain existing client base to ensure business is retained by building and developing relationships.
• Participate and represent hotels at key industry / trade events.

About the Job

• Provide exceptional assistance to the Chief Risk Officer and their Leadership team ensuring efficient office operations, email, and diary management.
• Complex presentations, reports, spreadsheets, and graphs; transcribeing information of a technical, confidential and or sensitive nature.
• Screen mail and callers, respond to and route inquiries to appropriate as necessary; determine importance and priority of various issues and determine what major issues should be brought to the attention of the Chief Risk Officer.
• Research, compile, summarise, and analyse information to respond to various inquiries from internal and external sources.
• Work in conjunction with the Risk and Governance Leadership team to ensure the smooth running of the function.
• Manage the organisation of critical Risk and Governance Forums and meetings including scheduling and invitations, booking rooms, setting up agendas, minute taking, organising catering and distribution of meeting documentation and minutes.
