Halgan Pty Ltd Position Overview The Field Commissioning and Compliance Specialist is responsible for the on-site field commissioning of liquid waste treatment products such as pumping stations, grease traps, and pre-treatment systems. The role ensures that all installations comply with relevant plumbing and drainage standards, specifically AS3500.1:2003. This position also involves overseeing the maintenance and asset management of liquid waste treatment facilities, conducting research and development (R&D) for regulatory compliance, and assisting with product certification processes in line with AS1546.1 and other applicable standards. Task & Responsibilities On-Site Field Commissioning Commission and oversee the installation of products such as pumping stations, grease traps, and pre-treatment systems. Ensure that all installations comply with AS3500.1:2003 plumbing and drainage standards. Liaise with contractors, plumbers, and engineers to ensure correct installation of valving, connections, and fittings. Perform on-site troubleshooting and provide technical guidance during commissioning phases. Plumbing & Drainage Compliance Ensure all systems, including piping, fittings, and connections, adhere to AS3500.1:2003 standards during the production and installation processes. Verify and inspect plumbing layouts and schematics for compliance before and after installation. Assist in resolving any compliance-related issues that arise during commissioning or product development stages. Liquid Waste Asset Management Manage the maintenance schedules and asset management of liquid waste treatment facilities, including pump servicing, aeration system servicing, and transfer system servicing. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to ensure the longevity and efficiency of liquid waste treatment systems. Track and document service records and operational performance of key assets. Develop maintenance plans and schedules to prevent system downtime and improve operational efficiency. Research & Development (R&D) for Compliance Participate in R&D initiatives aimed at developing and improving products to ensure compliance with AS3500.1:2003 and other regulatory standards. Work closely with the engineering team to ensure new product designs are compliant with relevant codes and regulations. Test and evaluate new technologies and materials to enhance product performance and compliance. Quality Assurance & Certification Assist with obtaining AS1546.1 certification for products, ensuring all quality and safety standards are met. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to integrate relevant codes and standards into the product testing and approval processes. Prepare and maintain documentation required for certification and compliance reporting. Parts & Product QA Manage the QA process for both individual parts and complete products, ensuring that they meet performance, safety, and compliance standards. Conduct thorough inspections and testing of parts to identify defects or non-conformance with specifications. Develop and implement QA protocols to maintain high standards in both production and field installations. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure that all incoming parts meet company and industry standards before use in production. Qualification & Experience Key Skills & Competencies Technical Competencies Strong understanding of AS3500.1:2003 and AS1546.1 compliance standards. Expertise in plumbing, drainage systems, and liquid waste treatment systems. Proficiency in commissioning and troubleshooting liquid waste treatment products, including pumping stations, grease traps, and aeration systems. Knowledge of asset management and maintenance protocols for liquid waste facilities. Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills Ability to analyse complex technical issues and develop effective solutions. Strong diagnostic skills for identifying and resolving installation and maintenance problems. Communication & Teamwork Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with contractors, plumbers, engineers, and regulatory bodies. Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across departments, including R&D, production, and QA teams. Education & Experience Degree in Plumbing, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred). 3+ years of experience in liquid waste treatment systems, plumbing, or compliance roles. Proven experience with product certification and regulatory compliance processes. KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) Compliance Rate : Percentage of installations compliant with AS3500.1:2003. Maintenance Efficiency : Number of service calls resolved within the scheduled maintenance timeframe. Product Certification : Number of products successfully certified to AS1546.1 and other relevant standards. Commissioning Success : On-time completion of field commissioning tasks without major issues or delays. Working Conditions Field-based and factory work, with regular travel to installation sites and treatment facilities. Occasional office-based tasks related to reporting and documentation.
