We are looking for an APAC Payroll Specialist

Compensation: $109,000- $135,000 salary, employee equity plan grant & world class benefits

About the role

You will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of employee pay in the APAC region, with a high degree of responsibility and independence. Your responsibilities will encompass payroll processing, compliance with relevant regulations and providing excellent employee support on their queries.

Responsibilities

• Payroll processing of the APAC region (Australia and Japan)
• Validation of payroll input against payroll register and coordination with payroll vendors for required adjustments/corrections.
• Coordinate with payroll vendors on timely payout to employees and statutory payments.
• Handle employee data and updates in our payroll system throughout the lifecycle of each employee
• Perform tasks associated with monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll reporting and taxation.
• Assist WGEA reporting and reporting required for employee share schemes
• Review of business expenses for compliance with Company policy and processing of reimbursements
• Serve as the main point of contact for employee pay-related questions 
• Partner with the US Payroll team and Accounting and People Ops teams to ensure alignment on employee data
• Partner with the Stocks team on equity matters including exercises, terminations, etc.
• Partner with the R&D organization and the Accounting team on R&D capitalisation and supporting work for the calculation by third-party advisors of the R&D tax credit

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
• 3+ years of experience with payroll processing in the APAC region. Experience with Australia a must.
• Excellent knowledge of payroll and related statutory labor laws required for payroll-related calculations.
• Excellent quantitative and Excel skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment with a passion for making an impact.
• Ability to work independently but also socialize issues as they arise

What you will do

The Ad Technology Specialist role requires a deeper technical understanding and will work closely with the AdOps team, sales and customers in a supportive capacity to enable us to deliver exceptional outcomes.

• Working closely with the Media squad, alongside product team to ensure that new products are executed in line with business objectives.
• Play a strategic role by developing the team processes inclusive of the management processes for ad-related issues.
• Communicate effectively with a large stakeholder group ranging from commercial leaders to product managers to software developers.
• Build native and html5 templates from scratch and follow specifications provided.
• Troubleshoot GAM tag integration on site and in APP
• Plan, manage, and monitor the technical implementation of display and video advertising units across various platforms. (Desktop, mobile & apps).
• Be the subject matter expert between sales, dev, finance, and IT departments regarding all ad-tech projects.
• Work closely with ad-ops team in developing campaign workflows including ad campaign set ups, optimisations, and troubleshooting.

The global Square Risk team works to protect Square and Square sellers and enable safe growth across our ecosystem. Square's Australian Risk team seeks an experienced Fraud Operations Specialist to reduce transaction fraud within merchant commerce. You will perform a detailed analysis of high-risk purchases/transactions in real-time queues to identify unauthorised transactions across different types of payments. 
You will analyse risk patterns and communicate with merchants in cases where additional information is required. You will work with global and local Square teams, including Compliance and Customer Success. You are interested in fraud investigation and the financial payments industry and are curious about how world events impact risk. You will demonstrate a high degree of empathy for the businesses and people we serve and bring creativity and structured thinking towards our procedures while maintaining a positive seller experience. You will report to the APAC Risk Lead, based in Melbourne.

You will:

• Monitor real-time queues and review high-risk transactions 
• Use policies to determine if transactions are fraudulent or high-risk
• Manage customer escalations through multiple channels (Customer Relationship Management systems, Email and Slack) 
• Work high-level escalations from partner teams, including Sales, Legal, Compliance and Credit Risk
• Partner with Risk Policy to investigate trends and complete team projects
• Advocate for customers by identifying trends and suggesting improvements to Square processes and products
• Build knowledge of risk at Square and the broader payments industry
• Work some Australian state public holidays
