The Opportunity

Orrcon Steel is looking for an Operations Manager to join our brand new Pipe and Tube mill team based in Unanderra. Orrcon Steel is a manufacturer of steel tube and pipe and leading Australian steel distributor with nationally recognised brands. 

The Pipe and Tube mill in Unanderra is Orrcon Steels newest capability. Opening at the end of June this year, this cutting-edge facility represents a significant milestone in our commitment to innovation and excellence in steel manufacturing. Equipped with the latest technology, this is a unique opportunity to join our team.

This is a newly added role to our team structure. Still being in ‘start-up’ phase, you’re someone who is excited by the opportunity to impart your Manufacturing Excellence knowledge. You’ll enjoy navigating ambiguity to shape, design and embed standard operating procedures and metrics that enable safety, quality and solution-based outcomes.

What Will You Do?

Leading your team and collaborating with key stakeholders in the business, you will:

• foster a high-performing and inclusive team: coach, retain and motivate the operations team, growing the team and uplifting their capability as our business and service offering expands
• achieve business objectives: lead the operations team in the areas of safety, cost, productivity, DIFOT, CAPEX budget, maintenance and performance management

• lead and promote an innovative culture: identify new product and service opportunities to drive increased steel penetration in the domestic market

More About You

With significant experience in operations, manufacturing or distribution you will bring:

• experience in either directly or indirectly managing, leading and engaging a high performing team
• proven ability to continuously improve business processes
• a customer centric approach with an aptitude to translate customers key requirements into new and improved product service solutions
• an understanding of the linkage between production, supply chain and logistics streams and the ability to develop strategies which align our current capability with our customers and market requirements
• demonstrated commercial acumen including the ability to understand and manage budgets

Your New Role

We have an opportunity to support a multi-year program to the Australian Defence Force working as a Relationship Manager/Process Analyst.

The role primarily focuses on working with the customer, managing relationships and mapping out their processes. A love for working onsite, embedded with the customer is key to success in this role. There is no opportunity to work remotely.

Other aspects of the role:

• Define and document user problems, needs and/or enhancements opportunities.
• Capture and model current and planned business processes.
• Conduct user liaison for ICT activities including software development.
• Coordinate and manage engagements with relevant stakeholders, including support teams, end users, and other involved in business analyst activities.
• Provide feedback on areas for improvement within existing business processes, and support Organisational Change Management. 
• Contribute to, improve, and enable delivery and escalation processes.
• Support Change Management activities and the transition of solutions into production and operational use.
• Develop plans, procedures, work instructions, manuals and other technical documentation for use by target staff.

• Maintain F&B service standards, and ensure efficient guest registration, departure, and telephone service.
• Actively promote Sofitel practices and programs.
• Ensure that guest problems and complaints are handled in a professional courteous manner and ensure follow through by proper record keeping of the results in Trust You and internal guest feedback.
• Proactive adherence to the F&B and F/O brand standards across the hotel including guest focus, Ambassador Appearance, department organisation, and operational effectiveness.
• Lead by example when attending to guest requests.
• Show efficiency in constantly striving to provide total customer satisfaction.
• Work together with trust so that colleagues and management meet the goals of the departments.
• Embody the art of French hospitality through a “can do” attitude.
• Perform tasks within a timely manner.
• Implement training programs for all employees, conduct induction and skills training.
• Carry out reception, F&B and F/O communications and concierge duties as required.
• Implement the Accor values and Accor customer vision to ‘Feel Welcome, Feel Valued.
• Display host/hostess type qualities when taking ownership of the Hotel.
• Assist with implementation and maintenance of Sofitel Brand Standards.
• Assist the Outlets Manager with the training and development of all ambassadors while also maintaining a detailed training log.
• Follow up on all guest comments, requests and complaints while informing the Supervisor and Assistant Manager of all such matters.
