The Role
• Installing below-ground drainage systems and associated ground support systems
• Excavate and level to line, depth and grade according to drawings and specifications;
• Set out and install below ground concrete and PVC sanitary and storm-water pipes;
• Carry out site drainage and dewatering procedures, employing storm-water, sub-soil and pumped systems;
• Test drainage systems;
• Locate and clear blockages in below ground systems;
• Install excavation supports in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements;
• Dig trenches to desired, or required depths by hand or using trenching tools or machinery.
• The ability to interpret and fabricate using isometric drawing to the required standards and specifications
• Complete ITP’s and follow quality control systems and techniques including daily fit up reports.
• Mark and record joint and spool numbers including material heat numbers

The Role

This is a great opportunity to join our Manufacturing and Fabrication Team and work in the largest fabrication facility of its kind at our Henderson Facility. Working on a variety of complex and high-profile projects, you will gain hands on experience and work within a world class team.

The Role

Civmec are currently recruiting for Welders, Special Class Welders and TIG Welders, daily responsibilities would include:

Interpret engineering and detail fabrication drawings, specifications and standards.
Undertake and pass all necessary weld qualifications in required weld processes
Perform the welding of steel components in all positions
Maintain all correct consumables, feeds, amperages and pre heat in accordance with applicable weld procedures
Perform welding techniques including, but not limited to, MMAW, FCAW, MIG, SAW
Weld steel structures in sequence to eliminate shrinkage and distortion of steel components
Remove tack welds, clean and restore weld preparations where required
Perform gouging operations if required
Conduct visual inspection and clean up between runs and at the completion of each weld
Assign welder number to each completed mark when required
Sling and move steel components with gantry cranes, mobile lifting equipment etc…
Maintain correct and accurate MARK numbers on steel components
Utilise all hand tools and welding machines to perform required functions
Follow quality control systems and techniques

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
Recognised Welding Certificate
Gantry Crane competency
Dogging Certificate
Previous records of passed welder qualifications (preferred but not essential)
Ability to pass appropriate Weld Test
Minimum 3 years with similar welding processes, specifications and standards

Placing drop sheets to protect adjacent areas from paint splattering
Preparing surfaces by removing old paint, filing holes and cracks, smoothing and sealing surfaces
Selecting and preparing paints to required colours by mixing portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying additives
Applying paints, using brushes, rollers and sprays
General cleaning of equipment and work areas
Grinding, sanding and surfaces of items to be painted
Loading paint and mixing paint into spray equipment
Connecting hoses to spray equipment and adjusting spray nozzles to required pressure
Securing items to be sprayed within spray booths
Directing spray guns to apply even coatings
Cleaning nozzles, containers and hoses of equipment
Setup of abrasive blast equipment for operations
Perform other general duties as required

About You

3 years’ experience in a similar role within the Construction Industry
