N Lillico & R Lillico is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Agricultural Technician to join their expanding team. Located in Smithton, Tasmania, our farm specializes in sustainable crop and livestock production. As we continue to grow, the need for skilled technical expertise in farm operations has become crucial. The Agricultural Technician will play a key role in optimizing farm productivity by monitoring crop and soil health, assisting with livestock management, and implementing advanced agricultural technologies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the planning and execution of crop production and livestock management practices.
Monitor soil conditions, crop health, and livestock wellbeing, providing technical advice to improve yields and maintain high-quality outputs.
Conduct soil and water testing, analyze results, and recommend appropriate actions to improve farm efficiency.
Implement and oversee pest control, disease management, and fertilization programs.
Operate and maintain farm equipment and machinery, ensuring safety and efficiency in all operations.
Collect and analyze data related to crop growth, livestock performance, and environmental factors to provide informed recommendations.
Collaborate with the farm management team to optimize resource use and support the overall success of farm operations.
Stay updated on the latest agricultural technologies and practices, integrating them into farm activities where appropriate.
Provide training and guidance to junior staff members on best practices and safe handling of equipment and resources.
REQUIREMENTS:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
A minimum of a diploma in agriculture, agronomy, or a related field.
At least 2-3 years of experience working as an Agricultural Technician or in a similar role.
Proficient knowledge in crop production, soil management, and livestock care.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess and respond to changes in environmental conditions.
Familiarity with agricultural equipment and technology, and experience in its maintenance and operation.
Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to improving farm productivity.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team in a rural setting.
