MLG Accommodation and Associated Facilities (part of MLG Oz Pty Ltd) is a West Australian owned and operated business with operations located throughout Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
We are currently looking for an experienced Head Cook to join our team in Kalgoorlie.
You will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations within the company provided accommodation and associated facilities located in Kalgoorlie. This position requires strong leadership, culinary expertise, and the ability to assist in the management of a small team in a regional and challenging environment. The Head Cook ensures high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene while adhering to company policies and industry regulations.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Menu Planning and Development.
- Food Preparation and Production.
- Team Leadership.
- Quality Control and Compliance.
- Supplier Management.
- Budget Management.
- Maintenance and Equipment Management.
- Cleaning and Hygiene Management.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to demonstrate proven experience as a Head Cook in a similar regional, remote or industrial setting, preferably in mining or hospitality.
You will also need to have:
- Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a regional location.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and work schedules.
- High level of ability to provide regular updates and insights on kitchen operations.
- High level of communication skills, in order to discuss menu planning, food inventory management, and staffing needs to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Strong decision making and problem solving skills relating to addressing issues related to food quality, equipment maintenance, or safety concerns within the kitchen environment.
- Proactive operator who can take necessary actions to maintain smooth and compliant operations within the kitchen environment.
- High accountability and responsibility for the kitchen and accommodation facility in general.
- Willingness to live on-site in the accommodation facility for extended periods (accommodation provided).
- Friendly disposition and good people skills.
- Ability to pass required medical and fitness assessments.
- Can obtain Western Australian driver’s licence
This is a full time position working 50 hours per week (Monday to Sunday).
A remuneration package between $75,000 - $80,000 will be offered to the successful candidate.
