Room Two Ten, a vibrant café and bar in the heart of Freshwater Village, seeks a talented, experienced chef to join its team. As a Chef, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of food and service to guests while upholding the unique atmosphere and ethos of the establishment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Menu Planning: Collaborating with management to plan menus that reflect the establishment's identity while meeting the preferences and dietary needs of the diverse clientele.
Cost Estimation and Ordering: Estimating food and labour costs for menu items and effectively managing inventory by ordering necessary food supplies.
Quality Control: Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and excellence.
Collaboration: Working closely with Managers, Dietitians, and kitchen and waiting staff to address food preparation issues and maintain smooth operations.
Technique Demonstration and Advice: Demonstrating cooking techniques and guiding kitchen staff on best practices in food preparation.
Food Preparation and Cooking: Leading the preparation and cooking of food according to established recipes and standards.
Hygiene Enforcement: Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
Staff Selection and Training: May be involved in selecting and training kitchen staff to uphold the quality and standards of the kitchen.
Food Preservation: Utilizing appropriate methods to freeze and preserve foods to minimise waste and maintain freshness.
REQUIREMENTS:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Diploma in commercial cookery.
Minimum 3 years’ proven experience as a Chef in a similar hospitality environment.
Strong understanding of menu planning, food costing, and inventory management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with staff and management.
Proficiency in cooking techniques and ability to provide guidance and training to kitchen staff.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure.
Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required.
