We are a family owned and operated organisation with 1,900 hectares over 5 farms and our team of 10 are currently milking 400 cows daily, breeding and raising 2,000 sheep and maintaining and harvesting 1,000 hectares of crop. Task & Responsibilities The core responsibilities of the Dairy Cattle Farmer The core responsibilities of the Dairy Cattle Farmer is to organise, control, coordinate and perform is to organise, control, coordinate and perform farming operations to breed and raise dairy cattle for milk and breeding stock. Daily responsibilities include: Breeding and raising livestock for the production of milk. Monitoring and maintaining the health and condition of livestock. Providing pastures and fodder to maintain appropriate nutritional levels. Moving livestock to optimise feeding opportunities. Organising and conducting farming operations such as catching, drenching and milking livestock and sterilising machines and equipment. Directing and overseeing general farming activities such as maintaining sheds fertilising, controlling pests and weeds, and growing fodder. Maintaining fences, equipment and water supply systems. Organising the sale, purchase and transportation of livestock and produce. Maintaining and evaluating records of farming activities, monitoring market activity and planning production accordingly. Managing business capital including budgeting, taxation, debt and loan management. Assist in selection, training and supervising staff and contractors. Qualification & Experience To qualify for further consideration, you will need to demonstrate a genuine passion for the industry, a solid, relevant, working history and the below skills and attributes: Skills & Experience: We are seeking individuals with the following qualifications, experience and attributes: A relevant Bachelors’ Degree or higher OR a minimum of 5 years recent and relevant experience as a Dairy Cattle Farmer may substitute for a formal qualification. Exposure to and/or experience in all responsibilities shown above. Current Driver’s License. Demonstrable experience managing/supervising within a quality-controlled environment. Good verbal and written communication skills. Intermediate computer skills. Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements and legislation. Ability to work independently and contribute as a valued member of the team. Physically fit for the inherent requirements of the role. Great attitude!
