W.A.G. Therapeutic Service are internationally trained in AAT (Animal Assisted Therapy) and AAPTTM (Animal Assisted Play TherapyTM). We use highly trained therapy dogs to assist children, teens and adults with their mental health needs in a playful, fun & caring environment.

We are looking for dedicated and passionate Psychologists to join our team.

The right person will be interested in learning how to include therapy dogs as a tool to assist in their practice.

WAG offers industry low billable targets (i.e., only 65% of time worked is for billables, leaving the rest for administrative tasks, supervision, and professional development).
WAG schedules a maximum of 6 clients per day.
WAG schedules 1 day each fortnight for administrative tasks (which can be completed at home).
WAG annually provides up to 60 hours of individual and group supervision, and professional development, with a board-approved Clinical Psychologist. Additionally, WAG provides a one-day Team Training Workshop each year. This more than exceeds the base minimum CPD requirements each year (and valued at approx. $10,000).
WAG provides training specifically in Animal-Assisted Psychology.
WAG provides fully dedicated administration/reception support.
WAG offers beautifully appointed, large professional consulting rooms.
WAG provides Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance.
WAG provides each Psychologist with a laptop for use at work/home.
WAG structures days into morning and afternoon sessions to allow the entire team to connect over lunch.
WAG provides quarterly team-building events (during work hours). To date these have included: Rage Cage, Hijinx Hotel, mini-golf, paint-pouring class.

Essential requirements


Must be a fully qualified Psychologist
Must be eligible to apply for a Medicare Provider Number
Must be comfortable with dogs and working within an environment where they are present.
Demonstrated skills and experience in providing assessment and psychological interventions using evidence-based practice
Experience working with clients across the lifespan (aged 5 - 75 years) with a range of presenting issues
High professional standards and commitment to excellence in service delivery
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Self-motivated, passionate, and driven
Ongoing commitment to professional development - We want someone who is interested in including animals as a tool to assist in provide the best treatment possible - they make therapy better, trust us!
Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
