As a Chief Engineer in our SRE team, you’ll be a technical leader driving through leadership, designing and implementing largve scale solutions, as well as influencing and engaging the Organisation’s senior stakeholders on modern best practices for improving reliability through the DevOps lifecycle.

As a matured Big Thinker, you’ll work closely with senior leaders on the strategic development of the SRE practice.
Creating, developing, installing and implementing tools required to support the operational management (including security) of software applications and systems
Testing, debugging, diagnosing and correcting errors and faults in an applications programming language within established testing protocols, guidelines and quality standards to ensure programs and applications including technical security controls perform to specification
Identifying technology limitations and deficiencies in existing systems and associated processes, procedures and methods, and using software engineering to develop scalable and sustainable improvements
Partner with product and engineering stakeholders at all the different levels to influence and educate our awesome builder and operational teams on SRE philosophy, principles, practices, and benefits from Engineer to EGM Levels
Be an ambassador for modern engineering and reliability practices, sharing information and supporting others in their learning, and building strong and energetic team cultures.
Take great delight in designing, building, and delivering infrastructure, code, or services to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of our internal or customer-facing services
You’ll enjoy every opportunity to perform deep dives into both systemic and latent reliability issues; partnering with software and systems engineers across the organization to produce and roll out fixes.
Provide leadership to mentor other SREs, sharing your best practices and hard-earned learnings for tackling issues across the entire stack; hardware, software, application, and network

We are interested in hearing from people who have extensive experience in:

A Chief-Level Software Engineering role, partnering with senior stakeholders and leading a culture of data-driven reliability, monitoring and automation aligned to SRE principles
Designing, developing, testing and supporting applications and systems
Managing and scaling distributed systems in a public, private or hybrid cloud environment
Creating and developing tools required to support the operational management (including security) of software applications and systems
Identifying technology limitations and deficiencies in existing systems and associated processes, procedures and methods, and using software engineering to develop scalable and sustainable improvements
High-volume or critical production service environment.
Designing, developing and releasing code in one or more languages like Go, Python, .Net, or Java. · Previous SRE or DevOps experience

Tech skills    

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;   

10+ years in software engineering, expert in at least one Programming language (e.g., Golang, Python)
Strong experience with modern software development practices using tools such as git for source control, and CI/CD tools such as TeamCity, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy or similar; Strong public cloud experience in AWS , GCP or Azure
Experience leading teams of engineers driving outcomes using observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, AppDynamics,
Extensive and in-depth knowledge of Linux internals, networking, containers, and troubleshooting
Experience in applying SRE Practices in large organisations and excellent Communication and Problem-Solving skills

Job Purpose and Impact The Site Leading Hand will provide strategic operational oversight for all production operating facilities with moderate presence in multiple regions or moderate degree of complexity. In this role, you will oversee and hold operating facilities accountable to standards for safety, quality, operational effectiveness and financial performance. Key Accountabilities Execute routine operations of assigned area, ensuring direct reports are following policies and procedures related to employee, food and feed safety and environmental compliance. Monitor production outcomes, quantity, and quality to ensure customer and food safety requirements are within specifications. Partner with production supervisors to meet customer specifications and timeline. Administer production budget for a department, process, or shift and executes purchase orders and ensures timely payment of invoices Develop operational plans and monitors routine operations for all production processes for multiple departments, processes and shifts. Develop, supervise and provide coaching to direct reports including coaching company core values and guiding principles for assigned facilities or region. Responsible for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance and disciplinary actions for your direct reports. You will also spend time completing the same tasks as employees on your team.
