Our Port Kembla Springhill Manufacturing facility is looking for an Electrical Engineer in our Paint Finishing Department based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

The painting and finishing department at Springhill is the final process in the manufacture of Colorbond, where coils of steel are painted with our world leading Colorbond coating process and then packaged and despatched to our Australian & International customers.

Reporting into the Paint Finishing Asset Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving fixed plant assets within the department. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, your goal will be to enhance operational productivity, achieve asset improvement targets by eliminating defects, maintaining our automation systems, leading improvement initiatives, and coaching team members, all while minimising business risks.

What Will You Do?

Leading and supporting your team to deliver on equipment maintenance and asset performance, you will:

• coach & mentor maintenance team members by identifying and closing technical knowledge gaps
• provide automation control systems technical support, advanced problem-solving and fault-finding
• conduct problem-solving and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations to understand critical failures and implement improvement actions.
• lead and facilitate multi-disciplined teams to identify and implement asset and cost improvement projects
• supervise maintenance activities and strive for business improvements and manufacturing excellence
• develop, maintain and improve the maintenance strategy and capital project plans to increase reliability and minimise cost
• build effective relationships to drive the continuous up time of our Paint finishing department assets

 More About You

You will hold a degree qualification in Electrical Engineering combined with suitable experience in relevant maintenance within manufacturing or heavy industry. As a result, you will have:

• tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering

• experience working in a similar industry within Electrical Maintenance, with a strong focus on defect elimination and equipment reliability

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader in our No.5 Blast Furnace team based in Port Kembla. In this specialised leadership role, you will lead a multi-skilled team focusing on the delivery of Mechanical Maintenance for our No.5 Blast Furnace (On Furnace Section) which is made up of the following areas – Furnace Top, Furnace Proper, Cast House Floor equipment, and Building Services in the surrounding area. In order to ensure operational productivity and asset management targets are achieved, you’ll provide technical support through the investigation of equipment issues. You’ll manage the team’s success through their performance and productivity to ensure our business plan objectives and targets are continually met – including overseeing external maintenance contractors.

Reporting to the Asset Manager, you will provide leadership to the On-Furnace mechanical maintenance team, ensuring equipment is maintained to maximise uptime performance and improve plant condition in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.  You will lead and mentor a high performing team in a dynamic and exciting manufacturing environment. Our Port Kembla Springhill Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator in our Coupled Pickled Cold Mill (CPCM) – Roll Shop Maintenance Team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers

The CPCM Roll Shop is a dedicated department responsible for maintaining rollers and side trimming blades used at our CPCM which is used to further process rolled steel. These rollers, ranging from 200kg to 25t, experience wear and tear and have a challenging life. Therefore, it is crucial to prioritise the maintenance of these rollers and surrounding equipment to ensure ongoing steel production.

This opportunity combines both your hands-on mechanical skills with your technical expertise to coordinate key outcomes in maintaining and developing equipment in the Roll Shop. You will also implement and enhance our maintenance strategies to achieve optimal equipment performance and reduce failures, all while championing a safety-first culture.

The Slab Yard serves as the temporary storage facility for our steel slabs. These slabs are later transported to our Mills for further processing, using a combination of manual and automated cranes with lifting capacities ranging from 20 to 65 tons. In line with technological advancements, the slab yard is currently undergoing a significant capital project which aims to automate many of the remaining cranes, making it the first of its kind in Australia. As part of your role, you will have the unique opportunity to be directly involved in the commissioning of this cutting-edge technology.

BlueScope's welded products section produces welded beams and columns manufactured from XLERPLATE steel which are renowned for their size and strength. Focussing on the maintenance of electrical equipment at the welded products section, you will assist in managing unique manufacturing assets and drive continuous improvements as apart of the asset team.

This role is a day-work position, Monday to Friday, with a monthly rostered day off.

You will maintain and improve plant condition, ensuring safety standards are never compromised. You will:

• provide technical knowledge and a root cause analysis approach to all equipment problems using problem solving processes to maintain asset performance
