BlueScope

BlueScope company logo

BlueScope is an Australian-born, global success story, spanning 18 countries, with a team of over 15,000 people. We’re driven by innovation and are proud that the technologies in our products and brands, like COLORBOND® steel, inspire and protect everything from hospitals and bridges to stadiums and homes.

The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Plate Mill – Roll Shop Maintenance Team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

The Roll Shop is a dedicated department responsible for maintaining rollers used at our Plate Mill to hot roll steel slabs into plates. These rollers, ranging from 1t to 30t, experience wear and tear and have a challenging life. Therefore, it is crucial to prioritize the maintenance of these rollers and surrounding equipment to ensure ongoing steel production.

In this critical role, you will use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes in maintaining and developing the equipment in the Roll shop. You'll implement and improve our maintenance strategies to achieve optimum equipment performance and reduction in failures.

What Will You Do?

As a Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator, you will:

  • supervise the day-to-day management of plant maintenance activities, including planning, organising, execution and review of maintenance
  • coordinate and provide technical support to the maintenance resources within the section
  • coach, mentor and develop maintenance personnel in manufacturing excellence principles and process, particularly around root cause and problem analysis and the development and execution of corrective actions
  • participate in cost reduction and capital upgrade projects
  • respond to the day-to-day Mechanical availability and reliability issues

More About You

As an enthusiastic and motivated individual, you will bring your experience and demonstrate a willingness to develop your skills. You will also bring:

  • a Mechanical Trade or tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
  • experience working in a similar industry within Mechanical Maintenance, with a focus on defect elimination and equipment reliability
  • a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
  • experience in maintenance coordination and collaboration with multiple internal and external customers

Why BlueScope

As BlueScope continues to go from strength to strength, a career with us provides you with the opportunity to grow and be rewarded. At BlueScope, you will:

  • create and deliver innovative solutions that drive transformation in our business
  • make an impact that really does shape the world we live in

We’re passionate about driving sustainability outcomes that matter to our communities, including action on climate and our 2050 net zero goal. And we’ll do this through Our Purpose: We create and inspire smart solutions in steel, to strengthen our communities for the future.
