The Gig

We’re searching for a Financial Accountant to join our team, supporting our Finance Manager and CFO with day-to-day accounting tasks, including month-end reconciliation and assistance with preparing monthly and year end financial statements. The role will collaborate closely with other members of the finance team on ad-hoc analysis and reporting to drive informed decision-making in our growing business, while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements during external audits.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee month-end and year-end close process including balance sheet,  profit & loss reconciliations and consolidation workings
• Prepare weekly cash flow reports and forecasts
• Review accounts payable payments and employee calculations including payroll accruals
• Manage fixed asset register, R&D timesheet records, and provide finance team training and backup support
• Assist with monthly and annual financial reporting requirements, tax return workings, and BAS returns
• Assist senior leaders with financial analysis, budgets, forecasts, and ad-hoc finance tasks
• Support external auditors and evaluate financial processes and systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field 
• CA or CPA qualified, or almost at completion

• Proficiency in accounting software systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with extracting and manipulating data stored in relational databases (for example, through the use of  SQL) will be viewed favourably 
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting and analysis
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams

We are seeking a passionate, collaborative Business Analyst to drive process improvement and service transformation enabled through our Digital Transformation Program (DTP). The role will initially focus on establishing future state visions for the services and processes in scope of the initiative, later collaborating with our implementation partners and process owners to identify business rules and requirements to enable the configuration of our enabling technology.

What you’ll be doing

• Ensure the services and processes in scope of the program meets the needs of our customers and community, are owned by the business, enabling the improvement of both our customers and employee experience.
• Document process maps, service, and process visions to enable timely and effective decision making during the delivery stage of the program.

• Implement quality assurance measures to validate the accuracy and completeness of configured solutions, conducting thorough testing and validation procedures to ensure alignment with business requirements and standards.
• Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring alignment with project timelines, deliverables, and contractual obligations, while also advocating for Council’s interests and priorities.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

• Demonstrated experience as a Lead BA, ideally with experience on ERP programs.
• Proficient in the elicitation, analysis, specification and validation of requirements and constraints, and negotiation of trade-offs that are acceptable to key stakeholders and within budgetary, technical, regulatory, and other constraints.
• Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Proficient in service demand modelling, analysing impacts to services and formulating a clear understanding for the relevant stakeholders.
• Ability to analyse complex data sets and translate findings into actional insights.
• Proficient in facilitating workshops, opportunity exploration and issue resolution, understanding and processing user requirements and conducting analysis.
• Proficient in stakeholder engagement and management, creating rapport and representing the transformation program in a trustworthy manner.
• Demonstrated experience in business processes modelling techniques and enabling software applications.
• Proficient in applying information security, knowledge processing, and governance controls, such as recording and reporting, into work practices.

Purpose of your role

This role is an integral part of the Group Finance team responsible for providing financial reporting and insights for the business. We are looking for a Fraud Analyst to join our Fraud and Crime Monitoring team and help prevent high-risk and fraudulent activity across payments and digital banking channels.  
The Fraud Analyst is integral to the successful deployment of fraud rules, strategies and delivering optimal outcomes for our clients and their customers. The team is accountable for identifying new threats by analysing; complex data sets; behavioural data; and intelligence to test and implement fraud or scam monitoring strategies in various platforms. 
 
In this role you will be responsible for: 

• Detection of fraudulent transactions at the earliest opportunity and recommending strategies to reduce fraud. 
• Testing and Implementation of rules within detection systems to reduce fraud. 
• Validation of new and emerging data sets, including the proficiency of AI and Machine learning models 
• Investigation of complex events to drive the optimisation of rules and controls 
• Detection of common points of compromise, and mitigating the risk associated with such events. 
• Providing advisory services to our clients and key stakeholders within Cuscal. 
• Contribution to investigations of significant items and escalation to management 
• Identifying weaknesses in processes and procedures to improve fraud prevention strategy. 
• Delivering insights to Cuscal clients on fraud trends, strategic insights and KPIs. 

About You: 

• You have proven experience working with tools that deploy rules, including algorithms, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning - Fraud or scam experience highly regarded but not essential. 
• Understanding of relational databases and programming, minimum Python and SQL. Java experience is also highly regarded.  
• Proven ability to build and manage strong stakeholder relationships. 
• Analytical mindset and the ability to effectively problem solve. 
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools 
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. 
• Highly resilient and demonstrated confidence in working in a dynamic environment. 
• A Graduate Certificate in Fraud or Financial Crime or equivalent and post-graduate qualifications in Finance, Computer Science, Data Analytics or Criminology will be highly advantageous.
