We are seeking applications for Mill hands (Labourers) to work at our Wandoan Mill. Wondoan is situated in the Western Downs Region of Queensland.

We are looking for 3 workers at the Wandoan Mill. Workers can apply and start immediately they pass induction and D&A test. Work is on-going with no end date.

Starting tasks include:
* Stacking timber from chain decks
* Grading timber for defects on the chain decks
* General mill cleaning
* Ensuring timber is stacked, tallied and packaged to specification.

You need to be able to:

* Meet deadlines and goals
* Work as part of a team and sometimes individually
* Perform repetitive manual handling tasks
* Show initiative and motivation
* Take direction, comply with and adhere to, Parkside Policies and Procedures.

What we can offer:
* We pay above award hourly rates (Timber Industry Award 2020 starting rate is $24.10 per hour)
* Opportunity exists to learn different roles and machines within the mill. Pay rates increase the more jobs you can do/the more machines you can run, in and around the mill
* 38 hour week, but some job roles can work 43 hours per week
* Rostered day off each month
* Secure ongoing permanent employment.

Undertake and supervise daily food preparation in anticipation and response of service requirement.

Ordering food supplies from suppliers

Monitor costs with special regard to portion control, waste minimisation and stock control

Carrying out quality checks on food supplies to ensure quality and freshness

Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations, safe work practice and having knowledge of allergy restricted food

Assist in ensuring that all the dishes are cooked according to specification

Discussing food preparation issues with Managers and Restaurant staff

Use various skills and techniques in cooking the dishes that the restaurant serves

Maintaining safety and hygiene standards in the kitchen at all times

Recruitment and training of kitchen staff







The Requirements:

To be considered for the position you must meet the following requirements:

Strong food knowledge and skills in vegetarian Indian cuisine and cooking

Relevant qualifications in cookery or hospitality

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chef in a similar role

Minimum 2 years of experience in preparing Indian sauces and curry pastes from scratch

At least 2 years’ experience cooking with the Tandoor oven

Passion for great food and presentation

Understanding of, and commitment to, food safety

Experience in kitchen operations and in managing a team

Experience in training kitchen staff

Ability to work well under pressure

Goods ordering and menu costing

Stock control and wastage minimization

Able to work to a flexible roster includes weekends
