As one of the largest private bus operators across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, CDC Victoria is in the business of “Linking People, Places and Communities”. We serve the community by providing essential public transport and offering reliable charter services to schools, sporting groups and other recreational groups within Victoria.
We are leading the way in reducing our carbon footprint with the introduction of 50 Hybrid and Diesel vehicles and have launched the first Zero Emission Full Electric Bus in the Southeast.
We employ over 1100 staff from 80 diverse nations, and operate out of 8 depots - in Ballarat, Geelong, Mildura and Broken Hill, Oakleigh, Sunshine, Tullamarine and Wyndham, which incorporates our Head Office.
We are seeking skilled Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanics dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of vehicle safety and performance. As a key member of our team, you'll ensure that our fleet of vehicles adheres to manufacturer specifications, Vic Roads regulations, and Bus Safety standards.
Key Responsibilites
Vehicle Repair and Service:
- Perform maintenance work on company vehicles, ensuring compliance with government regulations and safety protocols.
- Diagnose and rectify vehicle faults, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
- Conduct roadworthiness inspections and test drives to identify and address any issues.
Workshop Maintenance:
- Keep our workshop clean and organized, maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
- Assist with maintenance of depot plant and equipment as needed.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Requirements:
- Have completed an apprenticeship and hold a Trade Certificate or equivalent motor diesel mechanic qualifications that are recognised in Australia.
- At least 2 years' experience in working with heavy vehicles across a broad range of brands, and preferably bus and/or coach.
- Hold a current Victorian driver licence (not Probationary) with the appropriate Heavy Vehicle Endorsement, or preparedness to obtain this endorsement.
- Gain an understanding of and be willing to obey and implement:
- The Vic Roads Road Worthiness requirements;
- Bus Safety Act 2009 and Bus Safety Regulations 2010;
- Company Policies and Procedures, Risk Assessments and Safe Working Practices (SWP); and
- The company’s Management Information System (MIS) and Maintenance Management System (MMS).
- Have acceptable literacy and numeracy skills in the English language.
- Be able to work closely with others in a team environment.
- Be willing to keep up-to-date with new skills and techniques as required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with vehicle maintenance, including lifting up to 15kg and bending.
- Strong manual dexterity and ability to work in various conditions.
A salary between $80,000 - $90,000 (gross) + superannuation will be offered to the successful applicant, and overtime penalties will apply.
