White’s IGA is now seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Deli Manager for their Peregian Beach store. This highly regarded position will be responsible for the operations and the day to day running of an award-winning department and will report directly to the Store Manager.

About You:

Suitable candidates must have industry experience to competently assist in a wide range of operational functions and help lead a team to deliver retail excellence standards.

Major duties and responsibilities include:

- Staff Management: Hire, train, and schedule deli staff. Assign tasks and responsibilities to employees. Provide leadership and supervision to ensure a productive and efficient team.

- Food Preparation: Ensure that deli products are prepared, cooked, and presented according to established recipes, quality standards, and health. Oversee food safety practices, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food items.

- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels to prevent overstocking or shortages. Order deli supplies, ingredients, and merchandise as needed. Monitor product freshness and rotation, minimising waste.

- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers, taking orders, and answering questions. Address customer complaints or concerns and ensure customer satisfaction. Maintain a clean and organised deli department to enhance the shopping experience.

- Menu Development: Collaborate with the store management to develop and update the deli menu. Experiment with new products and recipes to attract and retain customers. Price deli items appropriately, considering cost and competition.

- Financial Management: Monitor deli department sales and profitability. Develop and manage budgets for labor, supplies, and other operational expenses. Implement cost-control measures to improve profitability.

- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the deli department complies with local health and safety regulations. Implement food safety and sanitation protocols to maintain a clean and safe working environment. Stay informed about food industry regulations and adjust operations accordingly.

- Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials and sales events. Plan and execute marketing strategies to increase deli sales and attract new customers.

- Quality Control: Monitor the quality of deli products, including taste, appearance, and freshness. Implement quality control procedures to maintain consistent product standards.

- Community Engagement: Engage with the local community to build and maintain positive relationships. Participate in community events and activities to promote the store.

- Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for deli staff. Keep employees informed about industry trends and best practices.

Project Overview

The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program is a multibillion project starting in 2023 with an estimated full train sets manufacturing and delivery by the end 2031. The project includes the design, construction and commissioning of: a new manufacturing facility in Torbanlea, 65 EMU train sets (390 cars) and a new maintenance facility in Ormeau in Queensland. The new train sets will be manufactured, tested and delivered from Torbanlea Manufacturing Facility. The state of art train design for safety, communications, security, accessibility, amenity and comfort for the passengers and rail operational staff will meet all specifications and latest standards requirements.

A combined local and overseas design engineering team will be integrating the train subsystems design and delivering the manufacturing documentation for the trains to be manufactured at Torbanlea Manufacturing Facility in cooperation with Fraser Coast and Queensland rolling stock equipment local suppliers. The local design team will be working with the overseas design team and local and overseas suppliers to assure the train sets design submissions, compliance, manufacturability, reliability, maintainability and safety for the train’s operational life of minimum 35 years.

Role Overview

Monitor and ensure Material Controller keeps up to date in terms of records for daily internal transactions
Keep records of external transactions
Generate weekly/monthly/quarterly reports for inventory from both transaction records
Set up guidelines to work with items that fall short of ‘minimum’ quantity to be kept in store
Initiate inventory and replenish processes with the suppliers and HQ
Liaise with suppliers/HQ for return dispatch and receiving shipments including NCRs, ECRs, other purchases, etc.
Coordinate with eaHeadquarters (HQ) and shipping agents/brokers to ensure smooth customs clearance and delivery of shipments

Qualifications, Experience and Skills Requirements

Relevant qualification in Logistics and Warehousing or experience

Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure the quality and reliability of components, materials, and equipment used in rolling stock production, and implement supplier quality management initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
Responsible for reviewing the preparation, content and layout of the Quality Management and Assurance documents for each phase of the project in conjunction with the respective Quality Manager
Manage the testing and validation of rolling stock products, including prototype testing, performance testing, and certification testing, to verify compliance with safety standards, performance requirements, and customer expectations.
Investigate and analyse quality issues, customer complaints, and warranty claims related to rolling stock products, and lead root cause analysis efforts to identify underlying causes and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
Provide training, guidance, and support to employees on quality management principles, methodologies, and best practices, fostering a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
Prepare and present regular reports and updates on quality performance, test results, and improvement initiatives to senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities for optimisation.
Ensure all key Quality document deliverables outlined as per project requirement are updated and provided to the relevant PIC in accordance with key project milestones.
Laise with and conduct regular stakeholder engagements with external quality counterparts and end customer.
Selection Criteria

Essential

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field
4 years of experience in quality management, preferably in the rolling stock industry
High level of experience within Quality management system applications in manufacturing / production environments. (Understanding of ISO9001 Requirement)
Demonstrated expertise in quality assurance methodologies, quality control techniques, and testing procedures
Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively lead and motivate cross-functional teams
Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to drive data-driven decision-making
Effective communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Proficiency in quality management software tools and systems
