An exciting temporary job share opportunity exists in the Youth Engagement & Pathways Unit to act in the Mental Health, Wellbeing & Leadership Development Officer role for 6 months from January 2025.

We are looking for a dynamic, adaptable, and experienced staff member who can continue to support the regional team and lead the delivery and activation of youth facilities and programs in the Broadmeadows and Roxburgh Park areas.

The role is responsible for supporting a small team, driving the activation of the two youth centres, facility budgets and operations, as well as building local stakeholder partnerships in collaboration with their job share colleague.

What you’ll be doing:

• Plan, develop and deliver programs and supports in regional areas across Hume that align to goals and actions identified in the Connect & Thrive: A Plan for Young People in Hume 2022 – 2026.
• Supervise and guide a team of Youth Support Officers to plan, deliver and evaluate mental health, wellbeing and leadership services and programs for children and young people predominantly aged 6 to 18 years delivered at youth centres and at place-based locations.
• Work with Team Leader Mental Health Wellbeing and Leadership to plan and deliver the activation of the Councils Youth Facilities and place-based locations.
• Mange the operations of the facilities including lease and licence agreements, maintenance, capital works for the youth centres.
• Accurately record and report client and program data relating to Youth Engagement & Pathways Programs.
• To guide and implement the operational functions of the youth facilities and Youth Support Team including overseeing centre and program specific budgets. 
• To lead, support and motivate a team of Youth Support Officers creating an environment where staff can thrive and will deliver positive outcomes for children, young people, families, and the community.
• To develop, deliver and evaluate mental health, wellbeing, and leadership programs in partnership with schools and service providers that respond to the identified needs of children and young people delivered at youth centres and place-based locations.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current issues and trends for children and young people, and the sector on a local and state-wide basis.
• Recent relevant experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of youth programs or other related activities, with a focus on fostering effective organisational partnerships and engagement with young people and their families, particularly those from isolated and marginalised communities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the ability to gain co-operation and assistance from Government departments, service providers, Council staff, young people, and their families.
• Well-developed written communication skills and the ability to accurately document youth programs and report upon performance and outcomes to Council, funding bodies or other stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and support a team, contributing to an environment that promotes high performance.
• Demonstrated experience in the effective and efficient management of programs and resources including financial and staffing.

Required Certifications & Qualifications: 

• Tertiary qualifications in family, youth and /or community services or a lesser qualification with substantial relevant experience in a closely related area.

What you’ll be doing:

• Code & input timesheets and attendance sheets in preparation for processing.
• Ensure all attendance sheets have been received.
• Ensure all pay run input is accurate, balances with batch headers and is completed within payroll time frames.

• Support the processing and production of correspondence, reports, minutes, reports, and discussion papers initiated within the Department.
• Coordinate Department approvals and provide quality assurance of formal correspondence. This includes assistance for the Council rolling program and Councillor requests and queries, when required.
• Respond to internal and external requests for information, customer requests, and under the guidance of the manager prepare / reply to general correspondence.
• Schedule meetings, appointments, and support the planning and delivery of departmental meetings and events. This includes arranging catering, booking venues, minute taking, and advising participants and external stakeholders as required.
• Undertake Human Resources processes in the recruitment of staff for the City Lifestyle Department.
• Support the Arts, Culture and Events team in administrative matters, including permitting and events administration support.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

• Demonstrated administrative experience in supporting the effective and efficient operation of a department or similar, including preparation / reply to general correspondence, support purchasing/invoicing requirements, recordkeeping / CP Content manager and the collation of reports and briefing notes.
• Commitment to quality customer service provision and the ability to follow through all enquiries effectively and efficiently.
• Demonstrated ability in dealing with difficult situations, resolving problems, and presenting a positive image of Council.
