A s Coordinator Major Projects & Precinct Delivery you will be leading a team of project managers through project development phase, procurement, and construction, all the way to completion & commissioning of the new infrastructure in delivering high value, complex infrastructure projects within the municipality. Projects delivered in this team includes community hub & precinct, sports precincts, redevelopment of open space and flagship projects that Council will be delivering.
What you’ll be doing:
- Ensure relevant delivery targets for the team is consistently met, through successful delivery of capital projects and programs within the team’s portfolio, which includes team’s budgets.
- Appropriate management of team’s activities, which may include risks, costs, consultation, coordination, contract administration, reporting, and other activities associated with delivery of their portfolio of projects, in accordance with industry best practice and compliance requirements.
- Ensure there are systems & process in place to ensure protection of Council’s interests, risks, and best value, at all times, within the team’s operations.
- Effectively apply appropriate ‘portfolio’ management thinking to ensure team’s portfolio targets are met.
- Implement a culture of ‘customer first’ within the team that aligns with organisational goals & strategies.
- Ability to understand externalities that may apply, including potentially competing business needs, stakeholders impacts and other relevant strategic factors.
- With deep understanding of procurement requirements, develop and implement appropriate procurement strategies that will deliver the team’s capital targets in the most efficient manner.
- Ensure systems and processes in place to ensure appropriate & best practice contract administration is carried out.
- Accountable for high quality documentation of all tenders (including quotation) and associated contracts for projects & programs, delivered by the team.
- Ability to effectively carry out superintending duties under Council’s standard contracts, for all contracts managed by the team.
- Ensure there is appropriate project (or program) governance implemented for all projects (or programs) delivered by the team.
- Ensure there are systems and processes are in place to ensure quality and compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and laws for the team’s activities.
- Ensure there is an effective Strategic and Operational links with relevant departments within Council and assist with the development and implementation of Council Plan objectives, as directed.
- Ensure appropriate engagement methodology are effectively in place and implemented across the team.
- Effectively represent the department and Council in internal, or external forums, as required.
- Management of the people in the team, which as a minimum include management of performance, well-being, and professional development of team members.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, building, project management or equivalent with experience in the project management and delivery of infrastructure works projects.
- Demonstrate extensive experience in consistently leading a high-performing multi-disciplinary team through complex and sensitive situations.
- Substantial experience in successfully managing substantial portfolio of infrastructure projects ($10m+) within budget and in a timely manner.
- Advanced level of communication & negotiation skills, including written, verbal, presentation skills & report writing.
- Experience and demonstrate understanding of Local Government processes (or similar), operating environment and governance.
- Proven success in implementing process improvement and management of risks, especially in local government capital delivery context.
- Experience in people management and in establishing & maintaining a positive, high-performing culture within a team.
- Current driver’s licence.
