• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies to ensure the hotel's facilities, equipment, and infrastructure are well-maintained and operating at peak performance

Reporting to the Executive Assistant Manager, you will be part of the hotel leadership team and will be responsible for managing maintenance and compliance functions with a hands-on approach. We are looking for someone with a focus on the guest experience and with good organisational and communication skills and previous experience in a hotel environment will be highly valued.  We are offering a salary in the range of $85,000 to $90,000 depending on your skills and experience. 

Keys duties include: 

• Prioritise and carry out maintenance as requested to ensure the smooth running of the hotel operation, including general repairs & maintenance to the property 
• Plan and carry out preventive maintenance throughout the hotel to ensure standards are maintained to enhance our guest experience 
• Ensure compliance standards are met in aspects of building, equipment, energy consumption, water, contractors, environmental and other brand programs. 
• Support and liaise with any contractors within the hotel ensuring their work is to the standard required by the company and manufacturer specifications, and oversee contractor induction and compliance with legal and hotel requirements 
• Oversee the hotel safety &security systems, including fire prevention measures 
• Be actively involved in the health & safety of our guests and our team members 
• Develop and implement effective strategies and solutions to improve energy management, water management, waste management and conservation  
• Manage capital expenditure projects 

What you will be doing:

• Prioritise and respond to daily maintenance requests to ensure the smooth running of the hotel
• Ensuring the guest experience is memorable and positive through the maintenance of the hotel facilities
• Plan and carry out preventive maintenance throughout the hotel
• Manage complex projects to deliver a luxury product and service
• Responsible for the overall energy management and conservation of the hotel
• Manage the engagement of contractors within the hotel, ensuring work is to standard, to manufacturers specification, in line with legislative requirements and completed within budget and on time
• Routine management of fire alarms and emergency lighting
• Chief Warden responsibilities
• Assisting hotel management with emergencies and maintenance issues and incidents
• Ensure all staff are competent in the safe and effective use of equipment and chemicals
• Actively participate in activities to support the Accor and Sofitel Risk Management program

This is a challenging and multifaceted role which will see you managing a small team and applying a service focused approach to managing contractor and guest requirements. You will work with external contractors and suppliers for scheduled maintenance. In a nutshell, you will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the rooms, facilities and common areas of the property. This role will draw on your proactive approach and ability to multi-task and prioritise.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will work closely with the heads of departments to ensure the smooth running process of the business operation. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, hotel knowledge, and effective communication to coordinate maintenance, repairs, and improvements within the hotel's shared facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

• Maintenance Oversight: Regularly inspect and assess the condition of the hotel's infrastructure to identify and address maintenance issues promptly. Coordinate routine maintenance tasks and prioritize repairs based on urgency and impact on guest experience, together with ensuring legal compliance, Inter React management and the Preventative Maintenance Program is adhered to.
• Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure timely and high-quality maintenance services. Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers for cost-effective and reliable services.
• Assist Front Office, Night Audit, Maintenance and Housekeeping teams in the successful operation of their department with a key focus on:Customer service, customer relations, sales, correct room allocation, FO reports, innovative packages, yield management; ledger administration, staff costs, reporting, reservation systems.
• Managing staff schedules to ensure that there are enough employees on duty at all times to meet customer demand.
• Complete month-end reporting.
• Developing and implementing strategic plans for their division in order to meet company goals and increase revenue.

• Previous experience in a similar role with a trade background preferred
• Be a hands-on leader within the current Maintenance team
• Ability to work within a 7-day roster
• Provide leadership and direction to maintenance Team Members to ensure maintenance requests are actioned efficiently
• Responsible for developing and overseeing a preventative maintenance plan for the Property, revising where necessary and conducting regular checks on all operating equipment
• Coordinates, liaises with and supervises external contractors, to ensure all work activities are carried out
• Seek to implement procedures to assist in improving the efficiency of repairs and maintenance to maintain acceptable costs and high standards
• Conduct general inspections of the Property, recording the condition of property, plant and equipment and fixtures and fittings
• Responsible for monitoring and maintaining Department expenses (including wages), ensuring the Department is operating in a way that maximises profitability and within budgetary guidelines 
• Record the costs of repairs done by maintenance personnel and contractors accurately
• Input requisitions and invoices into the Company’s payment system
• Plans regular maintenance and up-keep of all equipment and keeps accurate records, responsible for managing all planned maintenance projects
• Prioritises tasks according to urgency and importance
• Oversee waste management at the Property, ensuring waste is removed at acceptable intervals 
• Keep well informed regarding new trends, products and ideas that may benefit the operation. Assist in the formulation and development and implementation of new standards and services as needed
• Participate in scheduled training and development provided by Accor to improve self and department standards
• Attend Departmental meetings as required

• General public area cleaning duties, gardening duties and pool maintenance tasks as required along with the team
• Provide passionate and friendly service to external and internal guests at all times

• Foster and encourage a culture of open communication with other Departments such as Housekeeping and Front Office to ensure requests are actioned appropriately with minimal disruption to guests
• Handle all amenities, chemicals and equipment according to specific instructions and Workplace Health & Safety standards, ensuring Maintenance Team Members do the same
